Fitness center member perk?

I thought we could "hop" to other fitness centers, because it is my recollection that we have done so for years, particularly going over to Saratoga Springs' (after it was built) whenever we stay at OKW. But the gal on the phone today insisted that not only can we not do that now, but that it was never a perk. So, have I lost my mind, or do you all remember being able to do this too?

definitely if you are staying at any DVC resorts on points you could use any gym on Disney property.

been at OKW and went to VWL - no problems.

From the current Portable Perks (July - December 2010):

Fitness Center use is complimentary for Members at the Walt Disney World Resort hotel at which they are staying and at any Disney Vacation Club Resort. (Fitness facility access does not include spa facilities, such as lockers, saunas, and hot tubs.)

Thanks, I was sure I had that right! And she kept me on the line for a total of 20 minutes before she finally announced her misinformation. I think she polled everyone who was there, and they all had the same wrong idea. My original question was whether our guests could use the fitness facilities too, or just those of us with member cards, but she came back with the crazy answer that not only could they not, but neither could we! I suppose "staying on points" applies to guests as well as members.

I hope that this hasn't changed. I'm guessing that the attendant was confused about the fitness center vs. the spa amenities. We use the fitness center at Saratoga frequently while we're there. We have always been able to use the locker facilities as well as the hot tubs etc... I read somewhere that this has changed and we can only use the fitness center. The spa facilities are only available if we are scheduled for a spa service.

Last year, we stayed at BCV and used the Boardwalk's fitness center with no problem. I hope that "fitness center hopping" hasn't been limited as well

I stayed at the BCV in Sept and was able to use the fitness center there with no problem.

As I posted above (post #3), use of the fitness centers is a perk that's in the current portable perks.
