Well, that's my goal. To be fit and fabulous 'cause I just turned 40 (Dec 26)
I took my husband and 14 year old daughter to WDW (their first trips) so that I could attempt the WDW 1/2 marathon 2010. Little did we realize that the week we were there would be the we they had record cold temperatures.
My first half marathon (my first race ever!) was miserable. Cold and sleeting. Around 9 miles my feet starting giving me terrible problems with blisters. The rain had soaked my shoes and I wasn't prepared. I was able to finish and received my medal but it wasn't pretty. I spent the rest of the day in the hotel having urgent diarrhea and bleeding. I later researched it and found that my symptoms are not the uncommon after extreme exercise. I need to figure out how to avoid the situation for next year!
The race bug has bitten me hard. I've signed up for a 1/2 in my old neck of the woods, Tyler TX. It's on 10/10/10. I think that's cool. Then I have the 2011 WDW 1/2 of course. I plan on adding other, shorter races in the mean time to help keep myself motivated and interested. I really don't think I'll do the Beach to Bay like I had hoped. I hadn't realized that it's the same day that I graduate with my BSN!
Since I'm over 50 pounds over weight and since I just don't feel good and since I've decided that I must add a half marathon to every trip I take (hey, at least now I might get some traveling done!) I must get myself into fine shape. I was able to talk my hubby into ordering a treadmill. It should be here on Tuesday. I hope it's a good one for the price. I can't wait. I plan on using everyday, maybe twice a day.
I just want to get 'er started!!
