My wife, 2 sons and I will be staying at the WL at the end of July. I know my boys would love some fishing. Has anyone done this? What is availabe ? Thanks............any info is appreciated.

My husband, FIL and BIL did a fishing excursion from Wilderness Lodge back in 2001 and had a great time. They had to be at the WL docks around 8:00 ish. For Bay Lake, I think at the time the excursions were offered three times a week. The guide had sodas for the guys as well as the bait and tackle. He took them out on a pontoon boat for about three hours, I think. The fishing was catch and release and the guide baited the hooks. I think the guys said the best part, though, was cruising around Bay Lake, listening to the guide's WDW stories. I'm pretty sure my FIL wants to be one of these guides when he retires ;)

They liked the excursion well enough that the three of them are going on another one in October from Crescent Lake while we girls hit the spa.

Went last year in April. There were 3 of us and our guide. We had the earliest trip from the WL. They had a problem in that they did not have any live bait but we didn't care since we were all crankbait and rubber worm fishermen anyhow. Between us we caught 25 fish. It was great. It was also nice to see the Magic Kingdom wake up with the CM's going to work. I would suggest if you go to try and go as early as you can.

I know several friends who have taken the afternoon trips without much action. My wife and I plan of fishing using the Siliver Plan. With that plan you can only go out later in the day. Even if we don't catch that many at that time I could care less. I'll be fishing at Disney World!!!

Our 3 ds have done the kids fishing trip from the Beach Club/Boardwalk. I think the age is up to 12. They must wear lifejackets which my kids didnt like since they are all good swimmers. There they mostly caught sunnies as we call them. They got a kick out of the captain using hotdogs as bait and they got soda or powerade. They had a great time.
We also did the family fishing trip from the Poly. Guess who caught the most fish, me, the mom. We had the 2nd time slot and boy was it hot and the traffic on bay lake was getting pretty noisy. Our guide took us over to discovery island. The guide told us the earliest time is most preferrable due to the summer heat and the boat and ferry traffic later on. You will have a great time. Expensive but well worth it. Its one of our ds favorite memories and they always ask to go on the trip. Just its so expensive. Around $200 I think. Another poster just reported the correct price somewhere.

I went fishing from FW as a kid and caught about 10 bass. It is great! I don't remember though if the guide's tip is included in the price?

Wow - I never thought about that. My husband and kids and some friends are going later this month. WDW said that the bait was included and they provide all the equipment. I just assumed that is all you use - live bait. Did they provide the lures/rubber worm type equipment, too?? It seems like they would have to provide something if they don't have bait!
