Okay in all my trips, I've never even considered a fishing expedition, but my son has suddenly developed a newfound interest. I know the catch & release at Riverside, of course, is not open (fingers crossed for October??), but can anyone tell me a general price range and how much time is involved in one of these. The closest to where we are staying would be at the Yacht Club, but I'm not particular about that. Any insights are appreciated.

Well, we did one of the guided pontoon excursions from Yacht Club and loved it. We caught lots of really nice bass. Seems like it was about $250 for four of us for two hours. Of course IDK whether these have resumed or not.

They also have guided fishing all these locations per the WDW website:
it's all "call for more info" but it looks like it's only unavailable at OKW and POR at the moment.. we haven't done the fishing, but we did do the pontoon rental at Ft. Wilderness and it was around $200-$250 for a couple hours (more than enough time to take a spin around the Lagoon)... highly recommend!

There was a pontoon boat with a fishing party aboard a couple of weeks ago near DHS.

One of my favorite Disney activities. I’m partial to the Bay Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon fishing excursions vs Crescent Lake, but I’d gladly do either.

We’ve always done the 7am time - getting out first thing = good fishing, cooler temps, and usually beautiful sunrises.

And yes, they are currently operating.

The C&R at Riverside is really no good. Maybe fun for a real youngster, but the fish really aren't interested and the equipment is awful. If you really want to fish - do the guided trip. Is POR even open right now?

We‘ve been doing it since we were little. My dad loves fishing so this has always been “his activity” when we go to Disney. Out of maybe 10 fishing trips, only once did we have bad luck. Last time we went was Jan 2020 and we each caught at least 7.

The guides are great. They will bait your hook and even cast for you. It’s very relaxing and a lot fun! We normally stay at GF so the boat picks us up there.

I, too, would recommend doing a Bay Lake excursion (instead of Crescent). I believe those currently leave from CR, WL and Ft. W. I just find Bay Lake far more interesting than Crescent.

I will agree that Bay Lake is more scenic and that was our initial plan. However, we were doing a non-park day after a late party night, staying at the Dolphin, and we just wanted the ease of walking right to it. I ended up being pleasantly surprised with the size and amount of fish, and after we’d caught a bunch, he took us for a cruise over to HS, so we still got some nice sightseeing.

SOOOO What is the price of fishing? Is it per Adult? After over 2 hours on hold I booked for 6 of us- I dont know who is actually going- and he quoted me $540??? I thought it was around $250....

lol I think the fishing is really geared towards beginners and then guides spend most of their time keeping kids from hooking themselves. My sister and I were taught how to do it when we were very young.

Last time we went, the guide was rather tame until he realized we knew what we were doing and my dad explained how many times we’d done the excursions. After that, the guide had fun because he was able to relax and take us out places where we could really fish.
