We will be in HH the week of Sept. 7th. Can anyone give any recommendations for fishing excursions while we are there. We have two small sons (5 and 2) that love to fish and we would like to take them out on one of the excursions. Can we book one through the desk at the resort? Any luck out of the local charters? Are the prices reasonable? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, a fishing excursion may be reserved right at the resort. Just contact the recreation staff or stop at the rec window at the pool.

We've done a fishing trip for a number of years now and it is a lot of fun. Cost is $450 for up to 6 people. Bait and tackle are provided. They stay in the sound - so this is not deep-sea. We've caught abotu 6 different kinds of sharks, mackerel, cobia, redifsh, jacque and even some rays.

You can also just fish off the pier. The resort also offers crabbing and they have nets for purchase. There a a number of water related activities including nature hikes, shelling, bird wactching and kayaking as well as Dolphin tours - all right from the resort. There are also similar services offered at the Shelter Cove Marina - right across from the resort.

When you catch those crabs, does the resort have a crab pot you can cook them in?

In the 1BR (and larger) villas there is cookware that should work, but if not I think they may be able to help with something. Just ask at the recreation desk. :)

You may want to check about age restrictions on the fishing excursions. Several places we inquired with had a minimum age for kids.
