Fishing in Downtown Disney???

I've heard you can fish in dtd, has anyone done this??? My dad will be going with me on my trip in Oct. He would like to do a little fishing but doesn't want to pay for an out of state license. He doesn't need anything fancy ( The excursions). He just wants to relax. Any help would be appreciated.

You can get a charter fishing trip and fish in Downtown Disney, however there is no fishing from the docks. Sorry.

Are you sure?? I have an offical disney book that says you CAN fish from the docks. Says they have pole remtal. I'm soooo confused

They have pole rental and fishing at PO-R on Old Man's Island. Is that what you read? It was a big bust for us so I can't recommend it.

It's $4/half hour whether you use their pole or bring your own.

How old is your guidebook? I know up until a couple of year ago you USED to be able to fish from the shore at the Boardwalk (next to Community Hall) but not any more.

I just looked into this because my son wanted to fish on the dock. Called the place the book states in Downtown Disney and they do not do it anymore. The Port Orleans resort and Fort Wilderness resort are the two places.

If you have been to DTD lately, you would understand why. It really is not set up to be condusive to fishing.
