Hello all,

I'm going with my wife and in-laws in Dec but I will have a lot of time to myself. I'd like to go fishing, but I've found little info about it. Hoping folks could shed some light on the topic for me.

I saw ESPN WW of Sports has an excursion you can buy. I also read something in our book about being able to rent a pole from a specific place and fishing there.

Is it possible to bring a little bit of gear and fish in a random spot around the hotel? (Pop Century) We are also getting a car so I could try to leave the property and fish once or twice... but then I'd need a license and if it's anything like the day license price in my state, forget about it.

Thank you.

A one day out of state fishing license in Florida is about 20 bucks and available at Walmart. You do have to tell them what day. I can't help you with Disney fishing though.

You may want to check and post on the camping forum here on the DIS. I know they having fishing excursions from Fort Wilderness out on Bay Lake, as I've seen them most mornings. The folks on the camping board would probably know how the fishing rules on Bay Lake work with bringing/renting gear etc

I did a fishing excursion a couple years ago. There were a couple places i could choose from if I recall correctly. Bay Lake, The DTD waterways, and crescent lake (i think... don't quote me on this one).

I think you can also do cane pole fishing at POR.

As for bringing your own gear, I don't know if they allow that or not on the fishing excursions at Disney.

Disney's Excursions are catch & release.
