Fishing Hole at Ol' Man Island??

Hi!
I was wondering if anyone has done the pole cane fishing at Port Orleans before? Any experiences you can tell me about (positive or negative) would be appreciated.

We are considering this for Dad, Husband and 4 year old son. Would a Village Lake fishing excursion be better. Dad is quite the fisherman and DH likes to fish occasionally. DS has never gone but anxious to try. We are going in about 2 weeks. Thanks for your responses.

Our son went fishing there in 2003. He was 11 years old. He got one very small (I mean tiny) fish. He had fun, but he is not really a fisherman. There was another boy about 4 years old, I think, he also caught a small fish. That boy was having fun with his father though. Hope this helps you know what to expect. From what I remember you are also responsible for keeping up with the time you fish.

The pole cane fishing at Ole Man Island is nice for little kids, but would be way boring for actual fisher-people. I would suggest that the fishing excursion would be a better choice for your situation.

let them try it at Old Man and if they find that your son loves it - then do the fishing excursion (my opinion)

I agree, the fishing hole is fine but if they really love the fish I think the fishing excursion would be great for them. If you do want to fish at the fishing hole go early in the morning. That's what the man who works there told us. Best time to have a chance to catch a fish.
