I know they supply all the rods/reels and bait/tackle for these excursions but if one is an avid (bass) fisherman is to ok if one brings ones own tacklebox (lures)???

We've done a few fishing excursions, but I'll admit we've never brought our own tackle. The fishing guides seems to be pretty laid back and want you to do whatever makes for a good experience for you, so I doubt they'd have an objection.

The best thing to do is to call and get the information straight from the "Horse's mouth"... umm I mean "Fishes Mouth".

Here is the number for the Fishing office 1 407-824-1219. NOTE: this is NOT the 'call center'.

Call and talk to the lead and ask about using your tackle . Having just returned from 2 Disney fishing excursions in October (@ Bay Lake & Caribbean Beach resort) I can tell you that Disney uses biodegradable hooks that rust apart in case the fish swallows the hook and it's not in the best interest of the fish to remove it. They might require that you use the same kind of hook.

As for bait, Disney provides live shiners that make for a delicious meal for the lucky largemouth bass that strikes your line.

Good luck on your trip! I highly recommend this trip. I wound up rebooking the second trip at the lower rate because the first was so much fun. These Disney Fishing trips are really a hidden gem and totally worth the time.

The PP makes good points - best to call and be sure. The shiners do make for terrific bait - we caught fish almost as fast as we could cast. One helpful hint - buy the Birnbaum tour guide book (at a discounted price, if you can). It has a bunch of coupons in the back, and for years they have included one for 20% off a fishing excursion. The cost of the book is more than offset by the amount of the discount. And there are other coupons that you may find useful.

Do you mind if I tag along here? My nieces have booked (or plan to book) an excursion. I am not sure it is a Disney excursion. Do I need to buy a fishing license for my DH? WE are out of state folks. DH is a senior and our licenses are now free for him, however I could not see the rules for this in FL.

If it's a Disney fishing excursion, I can only say that nothing was ever brought up about our needing fishing licenses. And we've done three or four. Maybe they take care of it, or maybe they have some sort of exception. Other non-Disney fishing excursions may have different rules.

Thank you.
