Fishing excursion...

Just wanting some opinions on the fishing excursions in Disney. MY DD and I are going to the Perfectly Princess Tea and I feel kind of bad for my little guy because his big sister is not only doing the tea, but doing BBB and eating in the castle with the princessess and there is nothing just specifically for him. Sooooo, I was thinking of booking a fishing excursion for him and my DH. My son is 6 and has been talking about fishing for some time now, but my DH is not a fisherman and we don't really live in a place where that is convenient, so I was thinking a fishing excursion would be great for my DS6 and his daddy while my DD and I are at the tea. But, do you think 6 years old is too young for that? I don't know because my DH is not that knowledgable in the fishing area. Would the guides help my little guy? Anyone take a young child? I was looking at the fishing excurions for little ones, but my son is quite shy, and again, I am looking for something for him and his dad to do while my daughter and I are at the tea party? Any comments or advice? Thanks in advance.

We always go on at least one fishing excursion during our trips - most recently in December 2005 and we went twice - once from Boardwalk (the 7am one goes into World Showcase for at least part of the time) and once from the Wilderness Lodge. We love it - always one of the high points of our trip (my husband's screen saver is a picture of him with one of the fish he caught)! Now, I can't speak about how it would be for children, as it is only my husband and I (and while he can be child-like, he's not technically a kid!), but the fact that your DH is not a fisherman wouldn't make a difference (the only place I have ever fished is WDW). The guides are very helpful - they bait the hooks, set up poles, will show them how to cast. I would think it could be a lot of fun for them and I would imagine that some one will have experience with taking children on these.
