We enjoyed a great fishing excursion while we were there in September and with my boys getting older and really into fishing, I thought it was a great thing we could enjoy as a family. The price in September $230, for 2 hours, for up to 5 people. Expensive I thought but worth it since the boys are just now really starting to get into fishing. We splurged.

Well, I just read about the change in rates to a per person charge and it will now be $125 per person. For my family of 4 that will be $600 for 2 hours of fishing!!! :scared1: I'm sorry, but I find that to be more than a little unreasonable.

What are they thinking? There goes any future fishing excursions for us. Anyone else think this increase is more than a little overboard? I mean all you get is drinks, some bait and someone to drive the boat. The guide does bait the hooks and take the fish off, but we could very well do that ourselves.

Are you allowed to fish off the boats if you rent them yourselves and bring gear, bait, etc?

I called WDW (twice). We have a trip booked the end of November. Both CMs did not show any sort of price increase for my trip or any of the fishing excursions. One actually asked me where I got the information because it was incorrect.
I hope this is one time that the Dis is wrong. :confused3

We also have a fishing trip booked in November and the price is $230. I hope the price increase is just a rumor. We have really enjoyed our past fishing trips and would like to continue to do them, but not at $125 per person!

I agree. $125 is cost prohibitive. I think they would see the booking of the trips drop dramatically! I hope they don't get crazy.

I asked a CM about this and they said that the only fishing allowed is on the fishing excursions. I have always wanted to fish the canal by the Boardwalk.

A CM said that the water is recycled, which is why you cannot eat fish caught at WDW.

I just posted this terrible price increase on the fishing pontoon boats on the DVC planning thread after reading it on the DIS main page...
Thsi really takes the cake after my May trip and WAS a definite thing to do next time!!
This, I'm thinking, is also time to write a letter and complain vigourously :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious:

HORRIBLE !!!

Another concern... Will they do the same to the "Specialty Cruises"..i.e..Illuminations and WISHES cruises??? :confused3

Just found this on my Allears newsletter as of 10/25.
Guess the DIS info is (thankfully) WRONG????
