Where can I fish at Disney World without paying extra? I know about the lake between Pop Century & Art of Animation, a couple spots at Fort Wilderness, and the river at Port Orléans, but I'd love to find more.

Not really sure but I know Disney offers fishing excursions but $$$$ plus you have to have a Florida Fishing license so I am told. Might want to call Disney and ask. MHO I believe if you can't keep what you catch.

I'm trying to avoid the paid excursion... I fished a little at Hourglass Lake last trip, I was just trying to figure out where else I can go without paying extra. I don't care about keeping fish, since I won't be cooking there.

I didn't think you could fish Hourglass Lake, or any other place other than the places you mentioned without having to pay. I went on a paid excursion last year and the guide told me that you really can't fish anywhere (other than the places you mentioned) for safety reasons more than anything else. Disney can't really guarantee what you'll come across along the water banks, and since it is central Florida it's wouldn't be unusual to come across gators, water moccasins, etc.

You used to be able to fish at Fort Wilderness. I know when I was a kid my dad and I fished there a few times. They also used to allow "cane pole fishing" at Port Orleans Riverside for a few dollars, just to rent the pole, I think.

I was told last year that fishing is permitted at Hourglass Lake as long as you don't fish from the bridge and as long as you practice 100% catch & release. I was certainly not the only one fishing there.

Fishing is allowed at Fort Wilderness. Fishing is also allowed from the deck at Port Orléans. Again, catch & release is required. You can rent cane poles at the island, but I'll pass since I keep about $1700 worth of fishing gear in my Jeep. It is my understanding that there are other areas where fishing is allowed, without having to pay the excursion fee. I'm sure I'm not the only dad who takes advantage of it...
