hi all
we're going the end of feb for 10 days. my 3 & 4 yr olds have been pestering us for months to go fishing. since my husband is not into ice fishing, this won't be happening for awhile.

i was wondering if there was something in or around wdw where they could try this out. nothing fancy, just rent a couple of poles and catch and release. would we need fishing licenses? has anybody ever done this?
thanks

My husband and son went fishing once. They left from Wilderness Lodge Pier, and my Dad and brother also went and left from Boardwalk. Both of these trips had guides. I'm not sure about fishing from a dock, so to speak, but you could try calling your resort and asking.

Hope this helps.

Try this site and number but don't be surprised when they tell you it is now $200 plus the cost of bait for a two hour trip.
I wanted to do this this past Dec. but it was cost prohibitive for me. I did see some folks fishing from one of these pontoons in Dec. and actually saw them cathch a Bass.
Good Luck.

You can rent poles, etc at Ft. Wilderness campground and go fishing in the canals. Catch and release ... no fishing license.

If you brought your own fishing equipment, there would be no cost!

thany you so much, that's exactly what i was looking for! we're planning to do a "fort wilderness day" so maybe we can add this in. you wouldn't, by chance, know how i can get more info ahead of time, would you? thanks again

I think dockside fishing and pole rental is also available at Port Orleans Riverside.

For kids (and kids at heart), catch-and-release fishing on Ol' Man Island is available at the Fishin' Hole. Open 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., it is stocked with catfish, bass, and blue gill, and a catch is almost guaranteed. Ol' Man Island is also home to a playground, where the little ones can burn off some energy (if they have any left after a day at the Magic Kingdom!). Craft activities, organized by Cast Members, are held near the pool on some days.

Have fun!
