How is the fishing in March at the Fort? We will be there the first week of March. Any suggestions such as top water baits, plastic worms, spinner baits?

Good morning !
From my experience , March is a excellent time to fish the Fort. The swimmers are bedding or gonna bed so they should hit nicely.
For top water, I like to use poppers.
Going deeper I'm a big fan of Rat-L-Trap's and jitter bugs.
I generally like a soft worm with a tail, and tend to use the darker colors due to the water being a dark "tea" at the Fort.
And believe it or not, I have always done real well with Rooster Tails,,altho ya gotta search the colors they want sometimes.

Happy fishing and when ya get back in March, let us know how you did catch'n :thumbsup2

The crappie should be biting down by the 300 loop dam. If you can get some minnows or a white jig that should be productive.

Thanks for the info! I never seem to have time to fish while I am at the Fort but I will make the effort this time!
