We have an early August trip planned to HH. It is the only DVC resort we haven't tried so far so when we realized in April or so that our trip to DL Paris and Italy this summer was not going to happen :( I started to snag a few days at HH and later a few days more to string almost a week together so hoping we can go.

We are about a 6 hr drive away and will be taking our bikes. However, was curious about fishing there and whether we should bring our own gear. Is there any dock fishing nearby? Since we haven't been there before not sure if there is any on site. Other questions on Forum noted fishing charters which we may consider as well.

Thanks for any insight!

There is a dock onsite which is used for fishing also some crabbing. Something mostly for kids , not sure an angler would like much. There are several charters available. We used one several years ago. Caught some Spanish mackeral and brought back to room and cooked.

Great thanks! Yes, kids like to fish. Just catch and release but good to know re charters too. Much appreciated!

There are fishing gear and bait (chicken parts) and crab traps available onsite, not sure if you need your own fishing gear if you do a charter. There are also bikes to rent if you don't want to haul yours. Not cheap but not outrageous. Great place to bike...to the beach, to mini-golf, to nearby shopping/dining area. The beach is very solid and fun to bike, too.

Depending on kids ages, there's also SUP outings and kayaking. Lots of games scattered around campus (basketball, horseshoes, ping-pong, shuffleboard). Evening movies under the stars, DON'T MISS the campfire (S'mores). Also crafts for kids and adults.

The Pier is nice, but depending on the tides there may be no water to fish in. LOL

My sons tried crabbing there years ago and unfortunately the tide was going out.

But we have seen folks other times have success.

You maybe able to do surf fishing? I think most folks go out on a boat. There is a marina right across from the Resort.

im headed there on the 15th. I bring my own gear. I do some surf fishing and in some lagoons. FYI you cant fish on the beach during peak times i believe its from 10-6p. I usually go at sunrise and then in evening.
