Debating staying here in October. Would like to know if fishing is allowed on property. If so, do adults need a license? I know when we stayed at POR they charged a high amount to fish with a cane pole. :( is there anywhere in FW thar we can bring our own poles and fish for <gasp> free?

Fishing at fort wilderness is $4 for every half hour for cane pole. I believe you can fish with your own pole where the cabins are (around the 600 & 2100 loops seem to be the best areas). Not sure about the licensing though. You can purchase bait from the Bike Barn, not sure of the price. Here is a map of Ft Wilderness that shows the loops with water near them. http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/fortwilderness.htm Everything you catch at Disney is catch and release.

Also looking for information on this subject!!! We are looking for any place on Disney property where you can fish with your own equipment without paying an arm and leg for a guide. I understand everything caught needs to be immediately returned to the water and that is perfectly fine with us. I know many people say you can fish the canals at FtW and the pond near the bike barn but haven't heard a lot about what you may expect to catch in those areas. Do the larger fish (bass) travel up those canals from the main lake? Oh and you do NOT need a license to fish on property.

TIA

I believe the canals have smaller fish like bluegill. Try the pond near the bike barn for larger like catfish and bass, people have said that's where the larger fish like to stay.
