Not sure where to post this question... thought the Resort thread may be appropriate being that the fishing excursions leave from the marinas located at the resorts??

We will be visiting in April and were looking into the Fishing Excursion offered by Disney. Wondering if anyone has done this excursion and what the experience was like?? It is my understanding that you can choose which hotel marina to launch from depending of where you wish to fish. Is one area of WDW better to fish in than another?

We were thinking of doing the 2 hour excursion with me, dh and ds (10) and ds (6). Any thoughts... suggestions... advise would be appreciated!!! Thank you!

I believe CR has the bulk of the fishing excursions, but I'm pretty sure any of the lakeside resorts have their own versons as well. CR has the most boats and water activities though.

We see alot from the WL, but that's becasue we most always stay there....it's good fishing but too pricey for me..

I watched a family doing a fishing excursion while waiting for the WL boat to the MK. Looks like the CM will do almost everything for you (if you want). The CM baited the hook, cast the line (some of the folks cast their own line, others let the CM), unhooked the fish, and then tossed it back. The only thing everyone did for themselves was reel in the fish.

DW and I did the fishing from WL last time. had a really enjoyable moring. fish in front of CR< GF, MK... hint: go to the early am trip. its early but fishing is better. time goes by so fast. its like a 2hr trip and you get 1yr subscription to BASSMASTERS magazine. They do everything for you. Im old school so i did my own baiting, casting, reeling, unhooking, and releasing.

Wasnt very cheap($225) and we tipped the gentleman like $20. ...........

We did it on our last trip. 21 nice Bass :fish: in 2 hours. DS was only 11 at the time, so the guide let him drive the boat. :boat: We had a blast.

no real monster sized in the lake but lots and lots of bass. If you throw out and no fish in 5min they move to another spot. out best spot was near the GF dock. The view of MK in the am was a great day booster for us. Not much lake traffic in am so fishing spots are better.

1 of the extras being at the WL.... even with the smaller rooms for a deluxe(small price reflects it).....its still our top favorite. We have stayed Poly 2x.

Back to the fishing. If the price doesnt scare you, by all means, your kids will like it. its not all day and nice views and some fun included.

i think im gonna book 4 hrs next time to really get into it. They do have professional bass boats for fishing with a pro on the lake. thats a 1 on 1 excursion.

Thank you everyone for your responses!! :worship:
cwt580.... pictures are great! Thank you for taking the time to post them.

We are sold... now I just have to decide which day works best. We are staying at the BC, but based your advice, I think we may head over to the MK area. I wasn't going to join "the boys" fishing, but being that the price will be the same for up to 5 people, figure I may as well join them! Just not looking forward to the 7am launch time.

Thank you again everyone for you invaluable input!

just get a good nights sleep. The cooler morning will be a blessing when fishing.sunglasses for morning glare and a sunhat if its the warmer time of yr...

Kinda cool loading onto the boat when the sun is coming up......get fished and eat a late morning breakfast or earliest lunch.

Be aware they are very safety concerned when kids on board..

Ill bet he will drop you wherever you want for breakfast/lunch.....POLY,CR,GF,WL.. we fished right in front of ferrys at TTC.

Just to "muddy the water", we watched a fishing party right in front of the Friendship launch at Hollywood Studios for about 20 minutes. They caught several nice bass, including one that looked to be about 7-8 lbs. I WILL give it a go next trip!
