Fish Extender Question

Do most people personalize the fish extenders w/names of everyone in family or just have the characters?

It's a good idea to put either only your last family name or something that will personalize it as they have been know to "swim" away!

At first we couldn't decide what to do but we ended up having our names put on ours and I am glad we did...some gifts were made/bought especially for them by Diser's on our cruise so it made it easier...that way our girls knew it belonged especially to them...

Most that I have seen are not personalized.

People do use those zip ties to secure them so that they don't swim off.

all of the ones I have made have some sort of personalization. It's either our cruise logo or the FE recipients' DIS name. I HATE the idea of my baby fishies swimming away to another fishbowl. There is just too much love, time and money that goes into making them - mostly the love.

There is NO dumb question here. OK, "what is the Disney Magic" would be not so smart....


Fish Extenders (FE's, Fishies, etc) are pocket hangings that hang from the messenger fish outside everyone's stateroom. (This messsenger fish is used by DCL to leave messages for you - it's like a giant clothespin.) Thus the name: something "extending" down from the "fish". DISers from the DIS Meets Thread usually get together and organize some sort of gift exchange. It can be anything - it's great fun to get stuff from everyone's home area. It's fun to come back to your room and find little surprises.

ETA: you don't have to be able to sew. Fabric glue works great and there are many sets of instructions out there to help.

That's what I'm doing. My screenname is the same on the several boards I frequent. This way, everyone will know who I am!!

What's the longest length dimension for the FE? I know the width is 9" max. I'm making 5 compartments for the 5 of us.
