Are the fish and chips at these places the same recipe/preparation?

Is one better than the other?

We've always done the outside fish shop and then gone to the Pub for drinks right after, can we kill two birds with one stone and just go to the Rose and Crown Dining room?

You can, but you will pay about double the price of fish as you would eating outside at Yorkshire County Fish Shop. As far as I know it's cooked the same way inside and outside. The atmosphere is fun inside though. And they have some good desserts.

Thanks, I don't mind the extra cost considering I also get air conditioning inside. As long as it's the same inside as it is outside, I'm good fronting the extra cash. Thanks again!

It may be just my perception, but I feel the R&C order is smaller than the Yorkshire orders. The last time we ordered I received a whopping 3 chips and two smallish fish. There is no prohibition against getting the Yorkshire F&C and bringing it into the R&C for your drinks. In fact, we were once encouraged to go outside and bring it back inside. It is all the same restaurant after all.

We ate at Rose & Crown in September and asked them if it's the same fish and our waiter said no, that they go through such volume at Yorkshire that they'd deplete the oceans. I can't remember what kind of fish they use at either place, but the taste was very very similar! I , too, feel, that the portion size is bigger at Yorkshire.

We eat at both every trip. yes, we love it that much.
The chips (fries) are the same.
And very good.
The fish different. Yorkshire pieces are smaller, similar to the size you find a fast food fish shops. So they are small portions of the fish.
The pieces inside R&C are bigger, longer, like you can see the length the fish was.
If that makes sense.
We don't find the amount of food drastically different. I'd say the amount of chips the same (way more than 3 PP mentioned they got) and there is slightly more fish inside. Yorkshire is usually 2 pieces of fish, maybe 3 (You'd think I'd remember from 3 weeks ago) and inside is 2 big pieces.

I've only ever gotten one piece of fish inside R&C. It's a big piece, though.

I prefer the R&C portion as the Yorkshire portion is a little bit too much.

Maybe the number of pieces depends on the size of the fish that day? Just a guess

The fish outside is different. It's s type of cat fish called Pangasius. A bottom feeder and very cheap. We only eat inside where you get real cod. It's worth the extra money as pangasius is rumoured to have high toxin levels.

We ate outside the other night and I thought the sign said the fish was tilapia?

I was unable to find any reputable sources (i.e. sites not named "DietMindSpirit.veg") detailing the dangers of the 8th most popular fish consumed in the USA. Can you provide some?

That study is about how the fish was processed at a particular Vietnamese fish plant. It's not about the fish itself.
The article discusses that microbial levels cannot be guaranteed due to high levels of toxins during processing. I'm not looking to argue. If you want to eat the fish go right ahead.

My point is: there is a reason the fish outside is cheap. It's a fresh water, bottom feeding variety at best. At worst, the fish is potentially processed in plants with differing standards to those in the US. Vietnam is beginning to come up to US standards as it has been legislated, but they are self regulating. Fish is at high risk for bio accumulation. I for one will pay the extra money for the cod inside.

I wish I had taken a pic, the group I was with mentioned it because we had done the Living with the Land ride earlier in the day and seen the Tilapia then later on in the evening noticed the Tilapia when we were getting our dinner.

I've had both, but it's been a long time since I ordered the F&C inside at R&C. In my estimation, the serving from the Yorkshire window was better in that it seemed much fresher--nice & crispy. The last time I ordered inside R&C I got the one long piece of fish that was sort of mushy on the outside as if it had been sitting around for a while.

Last time I ordered at Yorkshire, the restaurant at R&C was a half hour or so away from opening for the day, but the bar was open. We took the F&C from Yorkshire inside R&C ordered a Black & Tan, and had a nice early lunch.
