Sunday 8/17 dawns bright and HOT and HUMID.
After a quick breakfast in our room we head to the north depot for our bus to AK. We win the bus lottery again and it comes immediately. Bus also goes to BB which makes the kids want to go there instead. Sorry, not this trip. Besides we just did Sandcastle waterpark at home!
On to AK, quite a line for strollers but I really need one for DS in this huge park. The plan is to do safari, Kali, dinosaur and get out. We want MK time! Sue would really like to see Lion King but can't fit it in.
Safari was good, animals were out, but our guide just wasn't too "into it." Also, she was very softspoken and it was difficult to hear her. Kids really enjoyed it though.
Off to Kali which Sue did not wish to ride. (She is somewhat fussy about her hair and did not wish to get wet, I on the other hand could not wait to get wet and to experience this ride. THis was the only ride or attraction that I have not done). We are already wearing our bathing suits and flip flops. Oh NO! The ride is not operating and FP return time is 2PM. (Bummer, I am not going to get to ride it!)
I ask the CM how long it will be? She says she doesn;t know and Suddenly a cheer goes up from the crowd!! It is open and with no wait. We leave stroller and stuff with Sue and get immediatley on the ride. DS is a little nervous and does not like the fire part. (no wonder AK park is the hottest
) We go down the one little hill and get a tiny bit wet. Wait, is this it???
Suddenly, we look up and Sue is squirting us with the elephant and we are done!
I have to say this was the most disappointing ride I ever rode at Disney. Our local ride at Kennywood park Raging Rapids puts this ride to shame. Talk about a drenching there! We barely got wet on this ride. All the kids were disappointed but we were glad we experienced it.
SUe and kids want to see ITTBAB and there is no wait. I say I already carried a screaming kid out of there last year and we will pass. We will meet them in front of Dinosaur when they are done.
Kids and I get FP for dinosaur and go on triceratops spin. DD and DS really want to ride PW but DS is 1 inch too short. (Next time!)
We stop to watch a very entertaining show with a paint truck and 3 "painters" who do juggling tricks to earn the golden paint can and brush award. Really wonderful act that both kids enjoyed.
Head over to Dinosaur and there is no wait. We do not use our FP and instead do child switchoff with DS. This ride is really fun and really loud! I wish it was just a little lighter inside so you could see the dino details. I think that car is great!
When we exit Dino there is a 20 min wait so we give our FP to a family of 5 who we overheard saying that they didn't have time to wait. They were thrilled at our "gift" It is really a good feeling to do that for someone.
By now, we are hungry and Sue's boys want to go to RFC again. My kids were not happy with food there so I get them a happy meal to eat on the way over. There is a long wait so we decide to sit at the bar on the animal stools. My kids have dessert and drink while we eat. Takes way too much time!
Back to bus stop to return to POR for naps and swims before our big last nite at MK. We plan to close the parks and see the FW.
