First winter car accident..

I can't believe it. Each winter there is quite a few car accidents in front of my house since we live on a small hill. There is a stop sign right after you hit the bottom so often people try to stop then go sliding. There is also a drop by our drive way, so many people end up in it and the tow truck drivers make a fortune. Oddest thing though is we hardly have any snow today. If this is a sign of how its going to be I'm going to be seeing a lot of accidents.

Knock on wood none of us has ended in the ditch or ended up in an accident due to the snow and hill. Keep your fingers crossed. I know I will.

Is there anything your town can do to fix the intersection? Put up a sign "beware of icey roads" or something? Is there a dranage problem that causes unusual ice build up? I think IL is going to have a bad winter, so if there is anything your town/city/village can do to fix the problem, it should be done now!

We are unincorporated so we are one of the last ones on the list of snow plowing, so on. We have been begging for a street light for numerous years. Just wish people would slow down. One of these days I am afraid one of them when plow into us when we are turning into our drive. We have been real lucky all these years. Hope our luck holds out.

Oh. One of the drawbacks to living out in the country, if you aren't incorperated it's hard to get local government to do anything. Have you tried asking who every handles your police and/or fire situations to help back you up in getting something done? They might have more influance, or at least get them to take you more seriously.

I doubt, but we can try again. Believe it or not I live in Downers Grove. We are on the border of Woodridge. Our area made the papers not too long ago. My home with many others was one of the homes that had their private wells contaminated. Downers Grove was aware of the problem for about 12 yrs+ but never informed any of us. So we were drinking contaminated water for 10 years. Lost my dog to cancer due to that. Others have similar or worse tales to tell. We are praying that one of us doesn't end up sick, or worse with cancer because of it. I was pregnant with DD11 at the time.

My point is if the contaminated wells isn't a big issue I am sure this is not important at all.
