What are your thoughts on going to Food and Wine the first weekend? Is it better to wait and let them work out the kinks first? This will be my first trip to Food and Wine so I don't have anything to compare it to.

This will be my first Food and Wine as well. I will be going for the first weekend, so I wonder the same thing. My dates are inflexible due to the Food & Wine Half Marathon being held that weekend.

I've been there for opening weekend for the past three years. I've not encountered any problems other then it's crowded on the weekend. I love Food & Wine.

Hi Todd! :lovestruc

It isn't kinks you have to worry about the first weekend, it is crowds. When I lived down there the first weekend was very popular with locals and Epcot was very crowded the first weekend because of it.

This year is the first year of the Food & Wine Half Marathon and that is also over the first weekend. How exactly it will effect the crowds is not known but a lot of people are getting discounted single park tickets when registering and I imagine many of them will be in Epcot on Friday or Saturday. Some will be taking a nap since the run is at night but my gut tells me Epcot will be a zoo of locals and runners along with their families that first weekend.

I plan on being there for the race that weekend, but I won't spend any time at Epcot until after the weekend.

I would try to steer clear of Epcot or just the WS on the weekend. We did F&W in the beginning of November last year and it was crowded. I would suggest going during the week if you can swing it. We are planning on going 10/4-10/10, which is the second weekend of F&W.

Good luck with whatever you can swing.

What will the first Sunday be like? This is also my first F&W and I am really excited. We arrive on the Saturday (not doing any parks as we arrive too late to justify use of a park entrance). However we plan on doing rope drop on the Sunday and staying until around 1 or 2 pm then leaving and coming back again during the week. Should I rather do another park on the Sunday?

There is small group of us going that first weekend in October just to cheer Todd on. Of course, since F&W happens to be going on while we are there, we will have to partake. :rolleyes1

I'm sure we will have some mini-meets then. :dance3:

There really aren't any issues with going during the first week. I've been several times to Food & Wine and have always found it just wonderful. The weekend is always crowded because more locals go then when they are off from work. It is very do-able though. Enjoy! :)

And Anna and Kim and :crosses fingers: Aaron and ???. Not just Todd. :goodvibes

And I can't think of anyone more qualified to have as an escort for the Food and Wine Festival than you and Val.

I think I am going to try and go the first weekend since the one of the people going with me wants to run in the marathon.

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a huge mistake by going the first weekend the festival is going on .
