Are there usually any discounts that week? I guess it's too much to hope for free dining.

I just found out we are out of school three days that week and decided it would be a great week to go to WDW. We'd only have to miss two days of school.

In 2008 and 2007 the free dining went into the first week of Oct and in 2008 was even offered through Dec with Disney Visa. I know the offer was similar this past year but we didn't go.

I had October 1-4 dates in my head since we're celebrating DD's birthday on the 2nd, but changed my dates to September 27-30 since the rates are much cheaper! I believe they are considered value season as opposed to regular season. On 2 rooms at POP we're saving $200 by moving our dates just a few days early! Plus, we're hoping for free dining :).
