First week of December 2021 or first week of May 2022?

I'm really on the fence right now about what dates to go with. I'm curious about other's opinions about the pros and cons of the first week of December 2021 or first week of May 2022.

I'm a Covid worrier, so I think maybe (though who knows) May might be better than December, so that's a factor. Also, as mask wearers (which we'll do regardless of mandates), December weather will be cooler and more tolerable. I'm also interested in the holiday stuff.

But May seems like lighter crowds and more time for the whole lighting lane, Genie+ stuff to get worked out.

Any advice from people who have a good sense of the pros and cons?

Aside from your concerns—have you checked for checked for resort availability during the first week of December? That’s when I’m going, and there’s absolutely zero available for my dates (I check once in a while to see what my options would be if I wanted/needed to change resorts)

Other than that, I can’t speak to the pros/cons between May and December. Obviously, I’m choosing December this year because I want to see Disney for the holidays.

December will definitely be nicer weather for walking around parks. Depending on Covid19, May is usually school trip time for us FL schools. I would go with December

Pre-COVID I've been during both weeks and found the crowds/wait times to be similar. Weather was definitely better in May. Warm without being too hot and not super humid. December started out nice - we were able to wear shorts/t-shirts during the day and on some nights, but the 2nd half of the week it got cold. We come from the Northeast and it was more of late fall like weather to us. We wore jeans, sneakers and sweatshirts with a fleece jacket a night.

I’ve done both several times, and I’m speaking from past experience without considering covid. Pros for December were Christmas decorations and cooler weather. Pros for May were later hours and being able to enjoy the pools. As a previous poster said - December is very booked up at this point.

Thanks... but out of curiosity, why? What makes it better in your opinion?

I've been early May, crowds aren't that bad and it's when it starts to get hot but the humidity hasn't caught up yet. We're going for my daughter's April break, which is the last week in April, and the reason why we went with that week is the weather is decent and crowd levels are decent.

But also from a logistics standpoint, May gives you time to see how things will work with Genie/Genie+ and more time for other experiences to return.
