We are frequent visitors to WDW but have never been to DL. I have the opportunity to spend 2 days there in August with my son and am very excited! However, I need tips! What are the 'must-sees' and how best to increase our chances to do the new Cars ride??

Best chance for Radiator Springs Racers depends on whether you are staying at a Disney hotel or not but no matter what you must arrive early to get FPs (they are gone by 9AM roughly) or just wait out the 90-120 minute line later in the day or use the Single Rider line.

This thread will get you going on all the important questions to be asking. Enjoy!

RSR is a long wait! We found it more bearable at night. (2.5 Hours!!). You are slightly rewarded for that nighttime ride by the fact that CarsLand is absolutely magnificent at night. If you ate in a Disney property then you'll have an extra magic morning to ride it with a minimal line (about 45 minutes). Otherwise, be at the park at rope drop and head immediately to the FP line. It will be VERY long. Don't worry it because the font start handing out the Fastpasses for a while. One morning it was nearly 9:30 before the line started moving. Once the line starts moving it goes VERY fast. Make sure that ALL of the members of your party have passed through the turnstiles before using their ticket to get a FP. They will not issue a FP for a ticket that has not activated for an entry yet!

If you can just ride it single rider. Lines are usually shorter than 40 min..

Don't forget Aladin and Crush. My favorite two attractions....:cool1:

How old is your DS? If you are able to head to CA early you shouldn't have a problem getting into RSR. My inlaws got to CA by 7 and lined up until they opened up the gates. Then there was a line near CCT for the RSR FPs. They were probably the 30-40 people in line and another 30 people ahead of them (from EMH and APEE). I wouldn't worry (and this was after the ride was closed the whole day before). My family and I had APEE and as soon as they opened the park the line went from 30 standby to 110 minute standby (DS was able to ride it 2x before the park opened). It averaged 100 minutes throughout the day. It does break down from time to time (I've visited 8 times since it opened and RSR broke down at least once a day I was there.) However, the ride time is going down. I went 5 days after Carsland opened and standby time averaged about 150 minutes.
Riding at night is nice but people with FP tend to wait until nighttime to ride (due to the neon lights of Radiator Springs). Rumor was (from CMs) is that they were going to start enforcing FP times at least with an hour leeway return time. But when we were there it hadn't happened yet. Our FP return time was at 9-10am and DH got on the ride within 5 minutes. I had a parent swap ticket and rode at night and the line for FP was about 40 min.

Or you can always do single rider. Wait time is 60 at most but they will close single rider line if it goes over 60 min.

HoJo is about 7-10 minute walk from room to gate. :goodvibes
