This will be our first trip to Disney and I'm feeling overwhelmed with all of the dining choices. I could really use some recommendations. We have a 3 boys ages 3, 5 and 9, so we probably can skip the princess stuff:)

So far I think the boys would enjoy chef Mickey's, but its completely full. I guess I'll keep trying.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

We enjoyed the Garden Grill at EPCOT in the Land Pavillon. It's a rotating restaurant and the characters are usually Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale. We really enjoyed the family style meal. Crystal Palace is always a great choice but very popular too. In MK with Pooh and friends, the best breakfast! (we usually get one of the last breakfast ressie about 10:30 and are eating by 11:00 great for an early lunch).

I agree with another poster. Garden Grill and Crystal Palace are both great choices for character meals....

If you have some time still to book ADR's, here's what I'd suggest....
(This is what we do with our 3 boys who are just a bit older than your's, but love these places):
Table Service:
'Ohana (dinner is amazing, but I hear breakfast is great for characters)
Crystal Palace (variety of foods and characters)
Liberty Tree Tavern (traditional Thanksgiving meal, but no characters)
Garden Grill (good food and nice choices for kids with great characters)
Teppan Edo (new to us this year but looks like fun)
Chef Mickey's (never done it, and heard the food isn't great, but good for characters)
Cape May Clam Bake (good choices, not just seafood)

Quick Service:
Flame Tree BBQ (or Rainforest Cafe if you've never been there)
Cosmic Rays (fun atmosphere for kids and decent choices)
Pizza Planet (totally for the kids, not the best pizza!)
Sunshine Seasons (lots of good choices and if your tired, you can ride the Land over and over!)

Hope that helps a little. I know everyone has their own taste, so this is just my opinion. Good luck with your ADR's and have a WONDERFUL time at WDW!! :thumbsup2

I would add Whispering Canyon Cafe to your list of considerations for dinner.

It's easy to get to from the MK and boys tend to really enjoy the atmosphere at the WL. They have Lincoln Logs in the lobby of the restaurant for the kids to play with and the wait staff really hams it up with the customers.

boys that age might really enjoy the sci fi dine in at hollywood studios! i think they'd have fun sitting in the cars and watching the movie clips.

  • Ohana's
  • t rex
  • Sci Fi Dine-In Theater
  • Mickey's Backyard BBQ
  • Cape May Cafe
  • Garden Grove @ the Swan
  • Via Napoli because every kid loves pizza :lmao:
these are a few i came up with that the boys might like

I ll keep my fingers crossed for you for Chef Mickeys that you might get a table even if its a walk up

Your boys would probably love T-Rex!

Here are some that my kids enjoyed on our last trip.

Crystal Palace
Sci-Fi Diner
Garden Grill
1900 Park Faire breakfast is also fun. It has the Mad Hatter, Alice, Tigger and Pooh, as well as Mary Poppins.

We have DS 7 and he enjoys
Tusker House Breakfast
Crystal Palace
T-Rex/Rainforest Cafe
Garden Grove
character meals......

He also enjoys some non-character meals as well.
California Grill
Teppan Edo
LeCellier Steackhouse
Ohana Dinner

My son age 10 loves Crystal Palace -
Also, we like most of the choices others mentioned. We also have had good meals at Tony's in MK and at Coral Reef in EPCOT - both of these restaurants I have seen many bad reviews. We have been twice to both and enjoyed them both times.
Our family also liked : Tutto Italia (Epcot)
Whispering Canyon (Wilderness Lodge)
Ohana's (Polynesian)
1900 Park Fare - buffet at Grand Floridian
50's Prime Time at DHS
We have been to Chef Mickey's - 2 or 3 times but prefer Crystal Palace - still if you haven't ever been it is worth going atleast once!
There are so many great restaurants - have a wonderful trip!!!!
