OK I can't contain myself any longer - I am taking my DD 8 and DS 9 in five days and am now beginging to panic (we've been counting the sleeps for 8 months!)

It's our first trip and I have taken so many tips from the boards. I start packing today and am hoping you guys can calm me down!! Here's what I have so far:
- staying at AS Movies
- 10 day pass for Disney
- 2 day pass for Universal
- Discovery Cove (16th)
- MNSSHP (17th)
- Pirates booked for 20th
I haven't managed to get any PS so any tips you can give me for dining, trying to snag a table at a character meal would be fab. Also clothes - we've got loads of shorts and T-shirts and of course comfy trainers - what else do I need?

Thanks for your help!

Hi
We always take a sweatshirt or two as it can sometimes be a bit chilly later on in the evenings in october. We don't take too many clothes with us as we know we'll want to buy lots when we're there! Walmart is a good place to shop if you forget any essentials. The first year we went we had to dash to walmart on our last evening (it's open 24 hours) to buy extra suitcases to fit all our stuff in! Now we always put all our gear into our two smallest cases then put those inside our two largest cases, so we have plenty of space for all our shopping.
We always take factor 30 sun lotion - it's easy to burn even on a cloudy day. We also take bum bags - so useful for putting money, passes, sunscreen in for a day around the parks, and keeps your hands free.

As regards PS's - it's not too late to phone disney. Or you could wait until you get there and see what's available. We have made reservations as soon as we've arrived at a park and still got what we wanted.
Have a fabulous time!

You've got some great plans there! Have a fantastic time :) :) :) :)

Thanks for all your help guys. I've done some shopping now and the packings done.

Any ideas for what to do on our first night there? We arrive about 5.30pm local time.

If you're staying at All Star Movies, I would either explore the resort(s) and the food courts etc or if you have loads of energy, hop on a Disney bus and go to Downtown Disney for a bit of a wander, a little shopping to get you in the Disney mood and maybe have your tea there?

Great minds think alike Eve :)

We will probably do exactly this when we get to ASMo. There's not a chance any of us will be too tired - I know how excited we are going to be LOL!

well i do hope we won't be too tired to go, i reckon we should be at the movies by 6.30 (i hope)and then hopefully just dump our cases and off we go::yes::

Dream of Disney - hope you all have a wonderful trip.

You will so enjoy MNSSHP. If you've not already got, check out Walmart for Halloween costumes, they are fantastic and very cheap. There is so much choice:D

The weather in October is normally great - plenty of hot/warm sunshine (not not the humidity like in the Summer), the evenings can get a touch chilly, I think I've worn my Pooh fleece once over the last few years. . . . and that was to take on the journey home to arrive back in a very chilly UK:eek:

Like Latte Lover says, make sure you've got min Factor 30 suncream, the sun is still VERY hot. You can pick up sun cream up cheap over here at the moment (end of summer sales), but don't forget whatever you've forgotten/run out of, you can get it bigger and better and cheaper over there! Don't pack TOO many clothes, you'll need room in your cases for all the bits and bobs you'll be brining back.

Have you thought about any character brekkies, or just going to choose one on the day? Who are the kids' favourite characters? Don't forget to take along a "big" round pen for any autographs (the characters - some of them - have difficulty holding a littler pen!). You can pick up the Disney autographs books at all the shops in the parks.

We've always gotten loads of autographs both in Disney and Universal in October, but most of the queues will be for Minnie and Mickey.

The nights we've done MNSSHP we've had a really lazy day (morning spent at Typhoon Lagoon), then back to the resort for a swim (my DD, 11, is a water-babe!) then we've headed over to MK at about 4.30. You get a coloured wrist-band to wear and then asked to make your way over to a designated area (last year was Tomorrowland) so because it's so empty you get to ride without many queues at all. Then you're right there in the middle of it ready for the start of the Halloween evening:tongue:

Universal are our favourite parks (DD discovered Hulk last year, even I had a go:eek:   . USF and IOA are brilliant parks, with something for everyone, from the characters, the rides, to the shows. Excellent.

Have a wonderful trip:earsgirl: :earsboy:

Annie

Thanks so much for the wonderful advice - I'm now REALLY excited!

:Pinkbounc

I've packed and unpacked three times now, and I now owe the kids a hundred dollars (they fine me every time I mention the "D" word).

Two more sleeps!
