We are going to Universal (IOA) for the first time in March, before our Disney vacation. We arrive 6 Mar (mid-day) and want to go to IOA on 7 Mar - our kids desperately want to see WWoHP but they are not into thrill rides. I looked at staying off-site (Homewood Suites) but it seems that because we are staying for one day an on-site hotel would be better??

RPR standard is not available and so I'm considering club level or booking at HRH. I'd love any comments about pros and cons of our plans or if we should just stay off-site and buy VIP or express passes?

Thanks

i would stay onsite.
you will be allowed to use the express lines for 2 days.
one for the day you check in and the next day when you check out.

much cheaper than buying the VIP passes for the family.

call and talk to a TM at uo reservations.
they will work with you for what is best financially for your stay.

some dates are not listed available while they really are.

We love RPR - we are headed down there next week.

we are staying club level and used our AAA discount.

Hello, we just returned last week (Aug. 30th) from staying club level at Royal Pacific. You can get a discount rate with triple A. I probably would not stay club again but you may like it. Breakfast was bagels, sweet rolls and pastries, some fruit, oatmeal, coffee and hot water to make tea or hot chocolate with. It was all carbs. The few tables were often full with families. Snacks were mixed nuts, cola products, potato chips, and some other carb junkfood.
Evening was a salad with some type of dressing but not the normal ranch or blue cheese, italian stuff. Then a raw veggie tray, some cheese, and a hot dish such as chicken with cellophane noodles or rice with some tomato based sauce with shredded beef. Desert was the same two days in a row, oatmeal raisin cookies, chocolate chip cookies, carrot cake and a little cream tarts.
If I had to do it over again, I don't know if we'd stay club again. The club room had friendly staff but it was noisy from the families and what we got as far as foods went compared to other clubs wasn't as impressive.
However, over-all, we enjoyed the hotel and staff. Definitely try the poolside bar for some great, reasonable priced food and portions huge enough to share.
Staff all over hotel were excellent during our stay. Very Outstanding.

I guess crowd levels in the lounge depend on when you go. We were there 8/20-8/23 and never had a problem finding a table. One thing that I appreciated was that, even though the posted start to breakfast was 7:30, they had the food out by 7:00 so we could grab something to eat on our way over to early opening at IoA. The nightly food is based on themes. I know at least one of our nights it was Mediterranean. They don't put bottled water out, but it is available (warm) if you ask for it.

Be aware that booking club level doesn't guarantee you a room on the 7th floor, where the lounge is. Our room was on the 6th floor, and we had club access elevator cards.
