does Disney give you free first visit buttons to wear? I've seen this mentioned in books, but is it really avaible, and where do you get them?

You can always get them at Guest Services at any park. Many hotel concierge desks have them, some DVC stands have them and during 'celebration year' some TS resturaunts have them.

If you add "1st visit" celebration to your reservation and are staying in a Disney resort you will have some waiting on you at check in.

so are they free? we are not staying at a Disney world resort hotel, but will be at Disney for two days.

They're free.... Just stop in at guest services. They also have anniversary pins / birthday pins / celebrate pins ... Just ask.

If you note your birthday/anniversary/etc. on your reservation, they should have them waiting for you at check-in. If not, just ask. You can also pick them up at any park's guest services. Town Hall in MK has them out in a bin where you can just grab them yourself. They are always free and will get you quite a bit of recognition when you wear them.

Thanks-it is mine and my sister's first visit-i wanted to get one for each of us. I am going to let it be a surprise! Anything I could get for my mom and dad (button wise)...it is their second visit, but not for a long time...over ten years ago!

celebrate pins? What are those for?

For people that are celebrating something that doesn't fall under the birthday, anniversary, honeymoon or first visit category. It can be anything you want it to be.Some a re celebrating a graduation, being cancer free, being together as a family, an adoption etc

great! I'll get one of those for my mom and dad for being the first visit with all four of us.

Last year, in addition to smiles, well wishes, and can't believes, we were also given a lot of wonderful advice from random strangers (and CMs). More often than not, when standing in line, someone would notice our buttons and give us a wonderful tip to make our visit a bit more magical. Sometimes the characters would notice the 1st Visit buttons and would thank the kids for coming to visit them for their first time.

Not so sure how free they are...

My kids "1st Visit" button cost me close to $4000.

The birthday buttons are always free, so I'm assuming that the first visit buttons are the same...:confused3

The Disney buttons, such as Happy Anniversary, Just Married, 1st Visit, Happy Birthday, etc, are all free and available for pick-up at any Guest Relations in the parks, as well as Ticket Windows and resort concierge.

Most Cast Member will also, if requested, use a permanent marker and write your name on it, or what you're celebrating, etc.

You do not have to bring proof of the event. People celebrate all kinds of things at Disney, at different dates. :)

When my mom and I went to WDW in 2008 it had been 15 years since my mom's last visit. We mentioned this to the CM and she said if she had not just run out she would have given my mom a 1st Time Button since it'd be so long and so much had changed since her last visit. You could see if you can get your parents 1st time buttons as well :)

I think they have them at the gift shops too. When I went to Disneyland we were talking to a CM at the store near the Indiana Jones ride, and I mentioned how it was my first time there and how great it was to finally check out the Indy ride, since they don't have it at WDW.

She said "Oh, this is your first time here? Then you get one of these!" and pulled one of the 1st Visit pins out of a drawer and gave it to me.

I'd totally forgotten about those pins..I'd been to WDW so many times that I figured I was well past 1st Visit status even though I was in DL for the first time. That was kind of a fun surprise. I have it in my Disneyland scrapbook now. :)

So you might want to check out the gift shops in any of the parks.
