First two weeks in July

Hey there DisneyMomx7... :wave2: wanted to thank you for the plugs about July -- makes me feel so much better about my July trip. Double-thrilled instead of just thrilled. ;)
Also thanks for the money-saving tips.. they are very useful to remember... here I was thinking that you must be an heiress. ;) ;) ;)

Finally, a question if you will: how do you do with your large family and PS? Do you all eat at the same table all the time, or split up? I ask because we are probably going with our neighbors and so there will be 8 of us. We would like to eat together of course but not for an hour wait even with PS. My DH is not the most patient person for things like that and my neighbor's DH is even worse.

Will be at the Poly for 8 nites in july. Love the summer travel, we live in the Bahamas so pretty much use to the temperature. Travel this time because the kids are out of school and my DH take us to one of the other Islands on his infamous fishing trip every easter break. He lives to go boating and i live for WDW so we compromise boating in April and WDW in the summer, without my DH of course he always backout at the last minute. This summer will be our ninth trip and he has only made it twice. Ah well not complaining shopping is so much easier without him.LOL :rotfl2: :rotfl:

FromVatoDisney,

If I may reply to your question...

We just came back from an October trip where there was 12 of us; 8 adults & 4 kids, YIKES!!! Anyway, I made a PS for all the meals that we were going to eat out in. I never waited more than 10 - 15 minutes for our table/tables. When I called 90 days out for the PS's the CM told me right then and there if he/she could accomodate 1 table for 12, or 2 tables of 6, or 3 tables of 4. Basically, I knew in advance if we were sitting together or not. If we were to be separated (which most times we had 1 table of 12), we were ALWAYS seated right next to each other. Often times they will not push tables together. It worked like a charm and there was never any hassle, confusion, or long wait times at any of our meals.
I hope this helps

Actually there are only the five of us now. Older kids are 28 (married), 22, 20 and 19 (in college - would rather go on vacation with their friends now). So I do make the PS's (you really do need them in July) but it's only for five. Also - I do wish I was an heiress, but alas, just a good planner. I'm glad you're excited for your July trip - another tip would be go to the dollar store and buy lots of ponchos for those unexpected down pours - that way you can just throw them away instead of lugging soggy heavy Mickey Ponchos (I did that the first few times and learned quickly).

That is very helpful LuvAriel! Thank you so much! :goodvibes

I wait to go in July because after the 4th it is value season at the Deluxes and Home Away from Home! This usually saves quite a bit of money. We also love the 4th of July at WDW although this year will probably skip the parks and watch MK fireworks from afar.

We'll (me, DH, DD11, DD5) be there July 2-9 at the POLY GVC. This will be our second year in a row for July at POLY GVC. I can hardly wait !!!!

We've always gone later in July this will be our first year there for the 4th. We'll be at GF Lagoon view. I know better than to try and do MK on the 4th and thought we would just watch the fireworks from our balcony (hopefully we'll have a MK view). My questions are: 1) we wanted to try and do LTT dinner - will we be able to get into the park for a PS and 2) are the MK fireworks better than Epcot or Sorcery in the Sky (MGM) on the 4th. Can't wait for July - hopefully I'll meet some fellow dissers.

We are going in July. I love it at that time!!!!!!!!

We will be there June 11 through July 31, staying in our home away from home at Ft. Wilderness. I will have my hubby the first and last week as he has to pull the camper down there, set it up and come back to get us. I drive my van so I have a car with me. My best friend and her family will be there with their camper the first 2 weeks and my parents will be arriving in their motorhome on July 1 for two weeks. Being there 7 weeks during the summer, we stay in the campground for most of the day and then head over to the parks about 5 or 6 at night. We were there for 3 weeks last July and found the crowds are lighter at night. Also, staying that long, my kids are not demanding that we go to the parks everyday. Having to feed 6 kids is a lot easier and more affordable to do it at the camper. Have a great summer!

WDW during the first 2 weeks of July? What are you nuts? :) Way to hot/humid and way to crowded. If I must go during the summer, I much prefer August, still hot, but not as crowded, since schools are starting earlier and earlier.

Yes its Hot and Humid. No big deal. yes its more crowded than August, but very manageable. We never waited more than 20-30 minutes in any 'Standby Line" last year. Just use Fast Pass.

Bring on the Heat and Humidity!!!!

Another family at the Poly, we'll be hot and it will be somewhat crowded, but I won't be working and I will have the complete attention of my very busy children.....cant wait!! :cool1: :cool1:

Hi aplejax76 --

What are the things you like about WDW in July? I see you're from PA -- I'm originally from Pgh. but live inthe DC area now... hopefully if July doesn't feel too hot to you, it won't feel too hot to us. :flower:

Also, for anyone -- what actual temps have you experienced? I looked it up and the average daily high in July is 92. I have no problem with that temp. at all, it is often 90 and up here. But how often does it get past 95?

Thanks!

I don't think the lines are too bad in July if you get there early and use fastpass. We never waited longer than 15-20 minutes and that was usually in Toontown waiting to see a character. I love taking the swim breaks and the kids love swimming at night while watching the fireworks. It's nice with everything open late that you don't have to pick which night to see the parade it every night (and sometimes twice!).
Oh, Robyn~With the new EMH (Evening Magic Hours), there will be even MORE to love this July! We love visiting the parks in the late afternoon/evening, especially with the late summer park hours (as you mentioned). Swimming at night is one of the BEST perks of visiting during the summer months. This new EMH feature, "stretches" these late hours a bit more...making it even better for resort guests w/passes.

Enjoy!!

My son goes to college in DC and to be honest I don't think the heat and humid are much worse in WDW than in DC. It was around 92-94 when we've been there. I would rather be hot and be able to swim and cool off (even at night) than to be in Florida wearing gloves and winter coats. Just my opinion.

Oh, believe me, I'm with YOU. I guess it all depends on the individual. Some of us are heat misers -- that's me for sure -- others are snow misers. :)

I love going in July! To me that's the best time to go. We'll be back this July 5-13, see ya'll there.
