I convinced my husband to take me to Walt Disney World this December. I have been reading these boards and found many great tips. It will only be me and my husband on this trip and neither of us have been to WD before. We are in our mid-20's and can't wait to go. We will be there from December 15th to the 18th. We are flying from Seattle and got our airfare for $129 a person round-trip. We are staying at CBR for $99 a night. I used to code that I got off of www.mousesavers.com. We also got tickets to MVMCP.

I really want to do a character meal but I don't know which one we would like. Are they all the same price. I have no clue what else we might enjoy. I don't want to spend too much money but I want to have the best time possible. We have no kids but I know there has to be plenty to do without any. Any hints?

Check out the dining database here on the DIS for character meal information: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningchar.cfm

Lunch will be cheaper than dinner and the food is usually the same, therefore a better value. If you have a day not planned to do the parks you may want to use that day to do a character meal at a resort and save your park time for rides & shows.

DH & I loved the Garden Grill at EPCOT. It was our anniversary and so we had the re-hitching cermony. Our other favorite was 1900 Park Faire. With the family we like Cindys for breakfast and Chef Mickey's.

If you are looking for a fun character "meal" for not a lot of money I highly recommend the ice cream social at Epcot. It is in the garden grill restaurant insde the land. It is $7.00 per person. You get a really cool ice cream, cookie, chocolate thingy. They schedule it for later in the afternoon when the restaurant is less crowded. We went last weekend and there was Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Chip & Dale. Because it is less crowded the characters spend a lot of time with you. We had all of them at once at our table and they came by about 4 or 5 times while we were there.

ice cream social is what I recommend also. It is more worth the money, especially without kids. But if you are looking for more of a meal, you should try Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary. It's a neat atmosphere because then you can ride the monterail (sp?) to the Magic Kingdom. Have a great time!

Personally I think the best character meal is dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern in MK. It is an all you can eat, family style, served dinner of turkey, ham, and flank steak, mashed potatoes, carrots, stuffing, mac and cheese and a great dinner salad. The characters are Revolutionary Goofy, Chip & Dale, Pluto, and Minnie. We've were there once when Mickey came through also. The character interaction here is really great! The adults here are played with as much as the kids are. This is one of our families favorate places to eat.

Thank you for all the information. I will check out the links you gave me. There seems to be tons of options. I hope I can make a choice.

I was also wondering about transportation. We don't want to rent a car because we will only be there for 4 days and plan on staying at WD the whole time. What transportation would be the best for 2 adults to and from the airport?

Hi Jillywilly!

My husband and I did 4 days last year without a car and it worked out fine. We had a good experience with Tiffany Towncar (airport to Wilderness Lodge) Our driver was waiting at Orlando airport, holding a sign with our name. He loaded our luggage into the brand new towncar and we were at Disney World about 30 minutes later!

HELLO!! We live on the Eastside! We are neighbors! My hsuband and I went for our honeymoon and we too are in our mid 20s. Let me tell you, we had the best time of our lives. We wanted to go to Ireland that summer but the flights were booked and first class was the only thing left for a ticket for each of us totaling 6k!

So we went to WDW instead! Now we are hooked!! Its a looooooooong flight, but worth it. Email me if you have any questions. We used Mears bus for the two of us to save money, and because it was just us, no kids, and we shipped on the plane a box of snack foods and water. We never needed a grocery store stop with Tiffany. We also stayed at CBR and LOVED it. Especially the cool steel drum music at night and laying in a hammock.

Kelly

Thanks Kelly!

What part of CBR did you stay in? We were thinking of taking a cab from the airport to the hotel. I don't want to wait around for the shuttle to pick us up. How long did you wait for the shuttle? Did you guys go to Pleasure Island? Is it worth the money? Have you ever been to Disneyland? Is MK the same? What do you consider a "must see"?

Thanks, Jil

jillywilly,

My husband and I (28 and 30, no kids) went to WDW for a week a few years ago, spent a couple of days there last January, and I also took a trip with my mom (late 40s). There is sooo much for adults to enjoy. As to the character meal, which one is best depends on which characters you want to see. My favorite is Eeyore, so we had breakfast at the Crystal Palace at MK with Eeyore, Pooh, Piglet & Tigger. It was great! It's definitely not just for kids.

As for "must sees", I would say Epcot in general, Test Track, the movies in France, Canada and China, HISTH. ToT and RnRC at MGM (if you're into rides, of course - I couldn't get DH on RnRC, so he just had to wait around while I went alone!) Also at MGM, Star Tours, Muppet Movie, DH liked the INdiana Jones Stunt Show, Fantasmic was also a great show. At AK, the safari, It's Tough to Be a Bug, Countdown to Extinction. The Mountians, Alien Encounter, Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear at MK. Personally, I even love the kids rides in Fantasyland.

Aside from the big attractions, just walking around and taking it all in is wonderful. Take a stroll on the Boardwalk at night. Walk over to Beaches & Cream at the Yacht & Beach Club for an ice cream cone. Get it from the take out window, and go sit on the swings along the lagoon in front of the Yacht & Beach Club (easy walk from the Boardwalk). Take in a show at the comedy club at Pleasure Island (hilarious improv).

You will have a great time and find plenty to do!
