I've been to disney world 20+times but this is my first time with my one year old son. What can he do in the parks? Are thee any rides he can go on with me? I'll also love to hear any advice you have on surviving disney with a youngster that you may have. Thanks.

We took both of our kids when they were 1 - my daughter when she had just turned 1 and my son at around 21 months. Basically anything without a height requirement you can take them on. At that age we just pretty much took things at their pace. They both enjoyed the characters at that age but I know some kids are scared of them. The shows are really loud for such little ears so that can cause issues. They loved rides like Dumbo, Pooh, Small World and really enjoyed the parades too.

Your DS can go on any ride without a height restriction, so alot! I took my DS his first time at 18 months. It was, by far, the easiest trip with him! I made sure we had plenty of snacks/drinks for him, slathered up the sunscreen, and off we went! If he was tired, he fell asleep in the stroller, one time during the HS parade. I did find a quiet corner every now and then, took him out of the stroller and let him run around. He was a bit afraid of the characters at first, but, after a couple of days, he was fine. I think he just got used to seeing them. His favorite part? Splashing in the water I poured on the stroller tray one very hot and humid night! :rotfl2:

Hope you have an amazing first trip with your son! :goodvibes

If he'll let you put them on him, I'd suggest bringing some noise muffling head phones because some of the rides and shows can be very loud. They make some for kids that aren't too expensive.

We took my DD right after her first Birthday. She LOVED the parades, It's a Small World, all the characters dressed up and her favorite was The Nemo Show. She was great the entire time. We slowed our pace for that trip, and went back to the resort after lunch every day. She would take a three hour nap with one of us in the room and the other would go swimming with my then 7 year old DD. After she woke up, we'd get ready and go to another park until she seemed exhausted each night.

thanks for the tips and info. looks like you all had positive experiances with your little ones. i just got to keep reminding myself that the days of "commando" style disney is over,at least for a while! lol
