We are finally going to WDW! I have been trying to get to the world for the last 4 years.
Each time the plans would fall through. but not this time! I've spent many hours lurking
on the Dis. I have gained so much information from you guys. I want to say thank you and
I hope you enjoy this trip report.

The alarm goes off at 4:00am! I want to scream, but then I remember I'm going to the happiest place on earth. Get Tyreak up, run around the house looking for stuff and trying not
to leave anything. Finally out the door by 5:00. Get lost on the way to the Amtrak station.
(We are from NYC but since our family reuinion was in SC the weekend before our trip, I decided to take the train to Orlando. )
Why is the Florence, SC Amtrak station hidden behind a huge hospital? We race inside at 6:15, the train is scheduled to leave at 6:30. We're told the train's 30 minutes late. Train comes at 7:30 and we are so excited!
The train ride was pretty good. I was sleep for most of it. Tyreak played with the travel toys I'd gotten from the Disney Store. Of course we arrived in Orlando late (5:30).
Grab our luggage and sign up with Coach USA to take us to WDW.
I wanted to use Mears but there wasn't anyone from mears there and no one answered the phone when I called. So we went with Coach, $30.00 one way plus tip. Our driver was Clyde
from Haiti. Very friendly and a good driver. This was my first time in Flordia. It's so beautiful, loved the plam trees.
As we approach Disney I start jumping up and down in my seat, hugging Tyreak, and saying "We're here, we're here" over and over again. I own just about every guide book, have read all the trip reports on mouseplanet, lurk on the DIS and RAPD everyday, but nothing prepared me for the size of Walt Disney World! This place is a CITY!
As we pull into the All Star Resort area it starts to rain. As we pull up to the Sports entrance I'm ready to leap out of the van! I still can't believe we're here! We put our things down and I get in line to check in. The Parent Trap is playing in the lobby. Tyreak checks out the resort while I'm in line. He keeps running back to tell me about the things he has found.
"Mommy I found the gift shop." " Mommy you should see the restaurant, it's huge"
"Mommy I found the pool and they let you swim in the rain!" By this time I was ready
to jump out of the line and go exploring the place with him.
It took a long time to check in. I had a slight scare from the first CM that was checking me
in. I used a code to book the room. ($49.00) When the CM saw this she said she to go
in the back to check something because of the rate. While she was gone a manager
walked by so I asked him what was going on. He looked at the screen and said she
just went to get your room assignment.
The CM came back and said we were in the baseball section. NOOOOOOO! I wanted
to be in the Surfs Up section, close to eveything.
" Miss you requested a non smoking room"
" Yes, you're right but I also requested Surfs up"
"We don't have any non smoking rooms available in Surfs up."
Will you have any tomorrow?"
"No"
"The next day?"
"No"
"Any time during my stay???"
"No"
"Do you have any smoking rooms available?"
"Yes, but you asked for nonsmoking."
" I know but can I please have a smoking room if there's one left in Surfs Up?"
"Wait, I'll have to go to the back again."
Lesson learned: Make sure your first request is the one you that's the MOST important
to you. Being close to the pool, food court and bus stop was much more important to me
than being in a smoke free room.
The CM comes back with our room keys, and gives us a bunch of maps, flyers and tons of
other papers and sends on our way to building 6. Isn't Building 6 a nonsmoking building??!!
It can't be, not after the conversation I just had. Anyway, we find the room and I notice 2 peep
holes on the door. I think to my self, only Disney would have a peep hole for little kids, how
cute. Stop Laughing! I slide the key into the slot the green light comes on, open the door, and what do I see? One bed! OH, that lower peep hole is for guest that are in wheel chairs.
Of course this room will not work for us. I drop everything and head back to the check in counter. This time CM Don helps me. We talk while he tries to find us another room in Surfs Up. He's also from Brooklyn! He grew up in the same area where I went to high school. After
about 10 minutes of key punching Don finds us a room in building 1. Thanks Don.
This room was perfect! Surfs Up building 1, third floor, facing the pool (1305). We were close
to everything. I could watch Tyreak walk to stadium hall, we were right above the pool, close
to the laundry room and bus stop.
We got everything put away and headed over to the food court. What a mad house! But I loved it!! They have something for everyone here. I got in line at the grill. SLOW.
Kids chicken strips for Tyreak, cheeseburger n fries for me, plus 2 mugs cost almost $30.00.
Good food. Those mugs were a great deal.
After dinner we walked over to the bus stop. In less than 3 minutes the bus for Downtown Disney pulled up. We stopped at music and movies then headed out. We got off at the first stop. Tyreak spent some time playing in the fountain. We walked around some the stores I love The World of Disney and the 2R's. Rainforest Cafe looks so cool. Can't wait to go there there next year. Went to the Lego area and Tyreak was in heaven. We got a nice picture of Tyreak with the snoring man. We around for about another hour before heading back to the bus.
Short wait got the bus and had to stand. Shared a bus with movies and music. Sports was the last one to be dropped off. Back to the room change into swim suits and out to the pool. Swam for about an hour. Showers and off to bed.
Boy, what a long day.
