This is our frist trip to a deluxe and we are staying at SSR (our home resort). This is also our first trip as DVC members. Do you have any tips, tricks, or gereral advice that we should know before showing up for our vacation? I am aware our rooms will not be cleaned everyday, but other than that do you have any information that would be useful to a SSR/DVC newbie?

If you're looking to be close to hospitality house, you want to get a room at The Springs. If you would like a nice view of Downtown Disney across the lake, SOME rooms at Congress Park are great for that.

3-bedroom treehouse villas cost as much points as 2-bedroom standard villas and are quite secluded, but for transportation to parks, you would need to get a shuttle to the Springs and then catch a bus to where you want to go.

Other than that, I rather enjoy eating lunch at the Artist Pallet, their QS location.

Buses make several stops, first is at Grandstand, last is at the Springs. I forget how the others fall in between.

In any case, I've stayed there twice and rather enjoyed it!

SSR is our home resort as well! We have been in a two bedroom in the springs and that was awesome for the pool and food but this last time we stayed in the pattock with the new pool and that was our favorite we had two little ones ages 3 and 18 month and the kids pool area was the best by far

If you enjoy walking or jogging, SSR has a "trail" with "furlong" markers, in keeping with the Saratoga horse-racing theme. At least as of last year, it wasn't always obvious what path you should take to find the next marker, but this can make for a scavenger hunt. Check it out and enjoy!

SSR is our home resort and we have staying in Congress Park which is an easy walk to DTD. We have also stay in the Springs which was between the main pool and the new Paddock pool, the kids loved the new pool. Plenty of shuttles to the parks.

SSR is one of my home resorts, and I love staying in the Grandstand. I can easily walk to the main building from there for breakfast. It is also the first stop for the WDW bus.

Our last stay at SSR was our 1st time in Grandstand. Loved the location, golf course...pool....yet close to main building.

Another vote for Grandstand - they have a great pool there with a refill station, it's maybe two minute walk to main Carriage House, and also short walk to the DVC ferry to DTD. SSR has one of the nicest Fitness centers on property. Community hall is great for activities if you have kids, also great to go grab a free DVD if you're relaxing at 'home' for the evening. Also found a great 'secret' spot if you have to hang out around the lobby area at check out - my BFF and I had three hours to kill waiting for ME and didn't want to go far, so if you walk through the gift shop down the long hallway towards the back where the DVC ferry is, there is a huge comfy couch and a bunch of comfy chairs to relax on that no one seems to ever use - we plopped ourselves there with our books, went and got something to eat at Artist's Palette when we were hungry, and just camped out there in peace and quiet.
SSR is very laid-back and pretty, and I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay no matter which area you are in. And if for any reason you don't like your location, do not be afraid to go right back to the lobby and ask what else is available (just do this as soon as you see your room). We always ask what building is available and for them to show us on a map in case we'd like to change it to something else before we even get our room keys.
Enjoy your stay!

SSR is our home resort and I'll be staying there for the 3rd time in 12 months come October.

We usually stay in the Grandstand area but are trying Congress Park this time.

We love the layed back feeling of this resort. If you have Tables in Wonderland card, ask if it can be used at Artist Pallet - the food court. Also I love coming back from the resort at night for a night cap at the bar and a quick game of pool.

Enjoy

Thanks for all the advice and info on SSR. We are so excited for our first trip!:dance3:
