It is our first trip to California and we decided on San Diego because of the zoo. We are HUGE animal lovers and visit the local zoo everywhere we travel. San Diego Zoo has always been on top of the list and we can't wait to go!

It will be my husband and I and our two boys ages 8 and 3. We are wanting to do Legoland, Seaworld and the Zoo. I am not to sure about the WAP yet? We will be there for 4 full days and half days on our arrival and dep days.

The only beach we have ever been to was over at Tybee Island in Georgia.. and it was November so COLD! I am hoping that we will have better luck this time? We leaving April 14th.

On to the questions!

Which beach is considerd the most family oriented?

Any great family fun resturants?

Seaport Village, Belmont Park or try and see both?

Thanks in advance to any who respond! :worship:

I reccomend staying in Mission Beach at the Catamaran hotel & spa. This hotel can sometimes go for over $500 per night. But most times $139- $189.
The Catamaran is 5 min. from Sea World and 10-15 min from the Zoo. Also only 1/2 a block to the ocean. It is a lovely hotel with a perfect location. If driving there I5 south to the 8 west exit beaches. Belmont park is only a few blocks away also. There is a Tony Roma's and a Fat Burger within a block. If you go onto their sight you can get deals if you have AAA. The best deals are for extended stay 5 nights or longer. Worth checking out if you haven't booked a hotel yet. We love it & when in SD wouldn't even look elsewhere.

The best beach is Coronado, across the bridge. It was voted one of California's Top 10 beaches by Travel Channel. You can find tons of sand dollars at low tide, too. Belmont Park wouldn't have much for young kids. There are some kiddy rides, but not many. Seaport Village is a bunch of shops and a merry-go-round.

-I would recommend La Jolla shores. La Jolla is very affluent and besides the beach, there are tide pools which are fun for the kids to explore, you can see the seals at the childrens cove, the village has a lot of nice shops and places to eat.

-Seaport Village has a carrousel and lots of cute shops with great views of the bay. Belmont Park has more rides including the Giant Dipper roller coaster. There are more locals at BP and on weekend evenings it can get a little rowdy, there are a lot of bars nearby. I think I would stick with Seaport for a more family friendly atmosphere.

Thank you all for your responses!

La Jolla Shores it is! I am sure we will have a wonderful time.
