I am watching this too. Currently I selected Sunset Savannah since its shared with Jambo house and is larger. Also clicked to be near the lobby since we will be taking the bus everywhere. I heard that many of the rooms right off the lobby may be standard views which is fine, just trying to avoid being at the far ends. I could see where if you had a car this may not matter so much.

Unless you enjoy walking about a 1/3 mile from lobby to your room, the best request to make is one of the following: (a) close to lobby; (b) close to community hall; (c) close to Timon elevator; or (d) Sunset savanna view, close to Rafiki elevator. The first three automatically put you on Sunset savanna (the largest one with giraffes) and thus do not need an additional request for Sunset savanna. The first one can put you on the north (where pool is) or south (where bus stop is) wing; the community hall request is similar but is a south wing request; the Timon elevator puts you a little ways down from community hall on the south wing and easy access to bus stop. The Rafiki elevator (on the north wing) request gives you a little walk from the lobby but provides the shortest walk to the pool; you need the Sunset savanna request to go with that one because near that elevator could also put you on Pembe.

Also, for the second poster above, all DVC room requests should be made through MS not via that request section in the on-line check-in which was designed for regular Disney guests not DVC. The standard view rooms near the lobby are across the hall from the savanna view rooms.

I requested to be near the Timon elevator and we really liked that location. The savannah view studio was great and we liked the easy access to and from the bus stop.

We requested to be on sunset savannah. When we checked in, we were really far from the lobby but they were able to accommodate us with a closer room, and it was wonderful!
