This! It's one of our favorite restaurants on HHI. We go for early bird dining there and get the land and sea entree for $18.99. It's the only time I eat anything other than seafood while I'm on the island (well, except for One Hot Mama's bbq). That filet is delicious. It is very small, but they have larger filets and other steaks on their menu. They also have a large selection of seafood. The location is wonderful, very close to the Disney resort. We usually walk or ride our bikes to it.So you are stopping for a night on way there...from NE I guess? We drive from PA so I can give recommends. How far do you want to get?
And we go to HHI all the time. For just 1 night there, maybe walk over into marina to Scott's for dinner. They have seafood and non seafood. They do happy hours too. And you can get a discount by showing your Disney resort room key. Has outdoor patio if warm enough for that (maybe they have heaters).
Another place is over by the Kroger in the Shelter Cove town center. It is called Poseidon. Huge place. Good seafood (sushi really good) and non seafood too. They also have outdoor patio. Also will give discount with showing Disney room key.
This may be crazy nut we are traveling from Oklahoma. It is about 2 extra hours to final destination, Orlando, but we really want to see Hilton Head. Plan is to leave on a Friday after work, travel all day Saturday and get a room as close to HH as possible. Then stat at DHH on Sunday. The two places you mentioned sound good. So I am not familiar with coming from that direction as we have always come from PA, MD or NC (3 places we have lived the past 25 years). So I know stops all along 95 going down to Disney. But Birmingham (6 hour 15 mins to HHI) and Atlanta (4 hour 10 mins) are big cities along your route and should have a ton of options. Macon if you want to get within 3 hours of HHI. During Covid, many of the free breakfast places don't have great offerings for free breakfast. Like Holiday Inn Express. Just a bag with like a banana, one place we stayed had a pear (yick), and granola bar. But we did a Hampton Inn that allowed dogs, because we had our dog with us, and they had a nice breakfast counter with hot items. This may be crazy nut we are traveling from Oklahoma. Another vote here for Scott's and the bakery. You can't beat the proximity plus the food is delicious.Sounds like Poseidon, Scotts and the French bakery are very good suggestions. Maybe one for lunch, the other for dinner and breakfast at the french bakery before heading to Disney. Where is the French Bakery?
The bakery is called Hilton Head Social bakery and is over in the marina near Scott's. Very yummy.
So is there 2 bakerys I want to try, Hilton Head Social bakery and the French Bakery?
I haven't been to The French Bakery so can't attest to it.So is there 2 bakerys I want to try, Hilton Head Social bakery and the French Bakery?

I need to ask you what is meant by the above statement?
Because if you are thinking that it is only about 2 hours between Orlando and Hilton Head, you are off by at least 2 and 1/2 hours, maybe up to 3 depending on traffic. Usually 4 and 1/2 to 5 hours of travel time as its roughly 300 miles depending on your arrival point in Florida.
As to where to stop before arriving - tell us your route. I would tend to agree that Atlanta is a possibility, depending on where in Oklahoma you are leaving from. I'd probably do a 10 hour first day and try to do a shorter 2nd day.
As to where to eat, Poseidon is a great choice. First, it is very close to the resort so that your drive will be less than 5 minutes, it has decent food and both indoor and outdoor seating choices.
Scott's is 'ok'. It's a quick walk, and has a variety on the menu. The only time it may hit my radar is when I don't want to go anywhere, but would like to eat something.
Anyway, enjoy your trip! I'm hoping to be there Mid March.
We've only been to Hilton Head once, but everywhere we ate was fantastic. I'll give you two entirely different suggestions that were our favorites.
Ela's on the Water was wonderful. It's a short (maybe 10 - 12 minute) walk from the Disney resort and the food and service were top notch. It's on the pricier side and more of an adult atmosphere, though we did see quite a few children in there and the wait staff seemed to be doing a great job interacting with them.
On the opposite end of the spectrum is Hudson's. If you love fresh seafood (they own their own shrimp boats) right on the docks, it's your place. You will have to drive there, though. We ran into an accident, so it took us a while to get there, but I'm guessing barring that it would have been about a 15 minute drive (??). It's extremely family friendly and the service was wonderful. The food isn't fancy, but it's fresh and delicious. Honestly it was some of the best coconut shrimp and shrimp & grits I've ever had.
Both places offer non seafood options.

Love the idea of Fresh Seafood. We do not mind to drive a little. I think we might try Hudsons.
