Do we need to make reservations in advance for every meal or just the character meals? I would like to have some flexibility and just go with the flow. Is this possible at DW?

Hi and welcome to the DIS!

A lot depends on when you are going. If you are going at a peak time you will have trouble finding a seat at a TS restaurant without ADRs. If you are going in off season, you could walk in to some restaurants.

There are a number of restaurants where you will likely need ADRs no matter when you go, like CRT, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's , Sci-Fi, and Prime Time.

Also, if there is any place you have your heart set on eating, make an ADR. They're free and you can always cancel later!

Great advice from Bob!!! I always make ADR for our whole trip. If we find that our plans won't mesh with the ADR, you can always cancel it. I wouldn't risk eating at my favorites by not making ADRs, especially Le Cellier!!!

We are going Nov 5-10 and could not get any character dinners and had a hard time finding restaurants where we wanted to eat. Most of the reservations were for after 8 pm. Luckily we were able to get ressies for lunch at Le Cellier and dinner at Ohana's, 50s Prime Time Cafe, and Maya Grill. All character dinners were booked.

Depends on when you're going. Most places were taking walkups when we went last week, only a few were packed at certain times. We made reservations for the restaurants we really really wanted to do (Character meals and popular table service locations!) and were able to walk into pretty much anything else we wanted.

But I def would make one for any character meal you want - just to be on the safe side!

i would plan on what park you wan to to go to on what day and make a ts at or near that park for lunch or dinner. we usually make 1 per day as we find more than 1 sit down to be too much food..sometimes we eat a large sit down breakfast then a ts for dinner but not very often...so it really doesn't tie you down that much
