This will be my first trip to DL. It will just be myself and my 2 yo son. I am a single mom. We are going 16 Oct - 19 Oct. It is in conjuction with dropping my car off to be shipped to Alaska as we are moving. I am acitve duty Air Force so I am getting my ticket, he is free, through our tickets and tours place on base. We are staying at an off site ecomony, which is fine, don't have a great deal of money to spend.

I am just so excited. I have been to WDW tons of times and love it. I can't wait to see DL and have my son see DL. He loves all the Disney characters and can say all their names. :earsboy:

What should we do? What times are best? What should I know???

Any advice would be appreciated and helpful as I have never been to CA muchless DL. :earseek:

Which hotel are you staying at? I got ressies at the carousel inn and suites for 79/night military price. This hotel is literally across the street form DL. So is Best Western Park Place and a few others. We are going the last week in Jan. for mother/daughter trip before she ships out. Of course try to go early-mid week and takes a break early afternoon. DL is smaller than MK and easier to navigate. I have been many times as I was raised in So. Cal. and Dad was HUGH Disney fan. feel free to PM me with any questions.

I went for Cheap so we are at the ramada Maingate. I think it is 59 a night. So not bad. Then I will get a 3 day park hopper through the base. I think my son is going to have the best time eventhough he is only 2, well turns 2 the beginning of Oct. I plan to get him an autograph book and a big pen so he can get all the characters to sign it. We will of course be going back to the hotel to take an afternoon nap, I think I will need it more though. But he is still taking naps. That is another reason for the cheap hotel...the closeness.

If you want to get lots of character autographs be sure to make lots of time for it as there are sometimes long lines. Plan to spend some time at Mickey's Toontown, there a few areas there for kids to just play and they love it having a break from standing in lines. You should have one day of Early Entry; use it and go on Peter Pan and Dumbo first. Fantasyland gets very crowded later in the day so early in the morning is the best time to spend there. Get a guidebook that explains the rides so that you will know which ones might be too scary for your son.

go early, go early, go early. by doing so you can do all the kid rides without a wait, and go to the pooh area about 1 hour after they open and the characters start coming out. If you ask a CM around they will tell you who is coming out and when. Take a long break in the afternoon to rest and you will have a great time.
