We are making our first "official" trip home to BWV next week and I need directions to the closest REASONABLY PRICED grocery store! (I know this has been discussed at length but unfortunately the search function is disabled and at the time I read it--I wasnt as interested as I am now!! LOL!).
DH wants to stop on the way from the airport but IMO the better course is to check in and then head out to pick up supplies since we will be traveling with the grandparents and a 7 month old!

I appreciate the assistance!

depends upon which grocery store you want - I like Publix - there are 2 close by -

go like you are going to DD (at the light turn left) - turn at the hotel Plaza boulevard - at the end of this street (ends at a big light) - turn right - get in the left lane - go under the Interstate - turn left at the first light - stay on this road - it will get you to a newer Publix over on International Blvd.

Or kept going on 535 (Apopka-vineland road) - get in a middle lane - (it loses both the left and right lanes) - then after it becomes just 2 lanes - get in the left lane - before the end of this street before it hits US 192 (where it ends) - you want to turn left - you will see a Burger King - Publix is in this mall. If you miss it no fears - just turn left on US 192 a couple of miles down the street on the right side you will see a Super Walmart. (this is after the Medieval Times Castle)

there is a Winnie-Dixie much closer - just turn left at 535 (apopka vineland road) it is on the right - about 5 miles???? on this road.

I prefer Winn Dixie, myself. I found the prices to be very comparable to what I pay back home. I think it is on the corner of Lake Rd (??) and Apopka-Vineland on the right hand side. There is an ABC Liquor on this corner too - you'll actually see that first.

I agree, btw, with going to check in first. That way if your room isn't ready, you don't have to worry about making sure the perishables get stored properly. I know they have refrigeration available, but... Plus, not everyone would have to go to the store with you.

We have been using WIN-DIXIE since last year. It's only a few blocks down 535 on the right. Get one of those price plus cards or whatever they call them as you enter the store. We saved some money each time. We like it there.

This past time we went right to the Win-Dixie and then to BWV. No problem getting our room at noon on a Sunday.

Here's another opinion, LOL! I bet you are sorry you asked, LOL!
I have shopped at both Winn Dixie and Publix but we prefer Publix because they have a much better selection of prepared foods or quick foods that make for very fast snacks or meals in DVC villas!!
Also if you follow spiceycat's first set of directions to Publix, you will also go by the new Premier Outlets, which is a very nice outlet mall, complete with a Disney outlet that often has great prices. There is also a very nice selection of other quality outlets. I would also go to the store after you check in. This way just one or two can run and do the shopping while everyone else relaxes back at the villa with the baby. If you have a lot of grocery bags, luggage services will be more than happy to bring them to your room.
Have a great trip!

We like Winn-Dixie, make a left at the light at the end of Hotel Resorts Blvd (across from Crossroads). It's only about a mile on the right, just past ABC Liquor. I thought their prices were better than Publix (we got the shopper card). It's a new store, only a year or two old, nice and clean. The new Publix is very nice too. If you need non-grocery items, there is a Super Walmart on 192 (follow 535 to the end, turn left, it's about 2 or 3 miles down the road on the right, just past marker 14).

We used the Winn Dixie that Debbie B gave directions to... we found it very easy to get to, prices were reasonable. Do get a card..it only took a minute or two to complete the application and we did save a few dollars each time.

I have to agree the prices are better at Winn Dixie especially with the bonus card. Publix has a bigger selection of prepared foods, desserts, salads etc for super easy meals but it is more costly. There are essentially all types of stores, restaurants, etc within minutes when you leave WDW property.

One additional tip regarding groceries and BWV......have the store bag the groceries in brown bags instead of plastic bags. On our last stay, I did an extensive grocery run for our 12 day stay for 5 people. The store bagged everything in plastic bags, and the bagger seemed to put an average of two items in each bag. Once back at the BW, Bell Services helped me load up the groceries on a luggage cart and then bring them into the room. My debate though was how much I should tip for that......there must have been about 50 bags! I think I ended up giving him about $25 bucks. With paper bags, I think everything would have fit into about 8 bags and it would have been much less effort (which means I could have tipped less!)
