First Trip Questions

Saw in a guide book that for those eating at Steakhouse 55 the men wear slakes and button up and the women also slacks, skirt, or dress. Was wondering if this has been everyone experience. My other question is Traders Sam more of a restaurant or lounge? We will be arriving Monday and thought it would be fun to spend the evening at Traders Sam's, which I know is hard to get inside, but if you eat outside do they like to turn the table over after you've eaten or as long as you drink can you stay awhile? Thanks for any info!

People wear the clothes they wore to the park at Steakhouse 55. You may also see some people dressed up, it's personal preference. Most of the outdoor seating at Trader Sam's is sofas or patio chairs with low tables, like coffee table height. They won't kick you out f you're just drinking and don't order food, but they won't stop anyone from sitting with you if the seats are open either.

Okay thank you! I know at WDW most restaurants people wear they have worn in parks so good to know. We will be living out of our suitcase for the first half of our trip so didn't want to worry about ironing clothes if we go to Steakhouse 55. Also we want to eat at Traders Sam's but would also just like to sit and relax and enjoy the atmosphere. We are so close to trip that now I'm in the worrying about everything point!

Yup...park casual is perfectly acceptable...now that does not mean beachwear but no need to get dressed up.

Some will get a bit dressier as a nice night out but not required.

I'll mention with Trader Sam's that there is an indoor and outdoor area. After a specific time (8pm?) kids aren't allowed to be in the lounge, however, they can still be in the outside seating area. This was a difficult/uncomfortable thing for me, because at 10pm, I was sitting with my hubby on a low little seating area, having adult drinks, listening to the live music, and kids--still dripping wet from the pool--came running around making a ruckus. I know, I know, it's Disneyland, kids are expected. But it definitely took away from the ambiance. And I tend to be one who generally doesn't drink in front of children (no offense to those who do, this is totally my issue because of my experience growing up), so having kids running around when I'm having an alcoholic drink was less relaxing for me.

Of note, when I went another time with BFF, there were no kids running around, and we found enjoying a drink then running back to the park to do Space Mountain multiple times in a row is really kind of fun!

To me there's no ambiance outside anyway, so a little rowdiness wouldn't bother me too much. But yea, I don't really understand why people want their kids in an adult space, even if it is Disney. I wish they'd either make it 21 and over or enforce the age limit earlier, like 4pm and outside too. Twice during the day I've run into parents complaining about the adults inside. Once we were a group of 11, so we got there when it opened knowing we'd need 3 tables. This family complained that there was no seating for 6 (5 plus a stroller) but that wasn't even our fault. There is no table for 5 inside, it's not like we took the only big table, even we had to split up. Then one of their kids fell asleep and they got upset that ordered drinks with effects. Well gee, maybe a bar with animated and sound effects isn't the right place for nap time. We ended up going outside to order more drinks, but some of us were kind of disappointed and left.
