Hello everyone,

I am new to DVC, having just purchased in Jan. 150 points with Dec. use
year.
When we purchased we were given points for Dec 06 which I promptly
banked since our next trip was planned for Oct 2008. DH and I were
talking this evening and were thinking about going in January again. So
here are my questions;

1. Do you think I can still book a week 1-12 thr 1-19? I know the
marathon is that first weekend. What resort is best (low points)?

2. Second problem, can someone explain the cancelation policy?
We will not be able to finalize our plans until the first week in
December do to work. What happens if we cancel with 30 days notice?
Can we just use those points for our Oct. trip?

Thank you again for all your helpful information.

Mary

I think you will be able to get OKW or SSR as I really don't think the marathon will be that popular - January is the lowest points of the year (Adventure season). If you go to the DVC member site you can check point charts or you can do search in google and find several other sites that post them. You may even be able to book AKL as there aren't many owner yet and Disney will surely want you to see them as you may get addonitus already. You have 31 days to cancel without penalty - no harm no fowl. Call MS tomorrow and book your days and get waitlisted at your first choice if it isn't available. Good Luck.

I don't know what availability looks like for Jan 12-19. I suggest you just call MS and ask them. If you are looking to save points, try for OKW or SSR, or a Value villa at AKV -- the Value villas will open in Dec and some folks are having luck booking them at 7 months out. You could ask about Standard View at BWV but those are difficult to get.

If you cancel a reservation 31 days or more prior to your check-in date, all of your points are returned to your account. If you cancel 30 days to 1 day prior to check-in, your points go into the holding account. Points in holding can only be used to book a stay 60 days in advance. October is a difficult time to book (due to the F&W festival) so you will have a tough time finding anything left 60 days out, so you definitely want to avoid having your points go into holding. If you cancel on your check-in day, you forfeit all of the points used for that reservation.

I am just glad LisaS is here to answer questions.... She is the last word on anything DVC... Sometimes, I think she is a double agent. She knows too much to not be working for......

I can tell you this Miss Lisa... when I read your posts, I hear Lisa Simpson. I would like to know you're real voice. I do believe you have an inside connection.... You do, don't you? Don't you? Spill it....

I still have a lot to learn about DVC but what I know, I learned right here. After getting a crash course in DVC from DISboard member dgaston at a DIS meet back in 2005, I came to the DVC section of the DISboards and read everything posted by Caskbill, CarolMN and Doc, among others, all of whom hold PhDs in DVC. :worship: In exchange for the free education I got here, I committed to giving back as much as I got. And you do pretty well in that department yourself, DisDaydreamer!

Why spoil the illusion? :rotfl: I don't sound like her but I do have a lot in common with her, though I don't play the "saxamophone".

I wish I were working for the Mouse so I could have gotten the CM discount on all these points I bought!
