This august will be our first DVC trip. We'll be in a 2BR at BCV with family. There will be a total of 4 adults, 2 teens and 1 child. I'm thinking that we'll eat breakfast and 1 other meal in the room each day (give or take). What kinds of easy meals do you experienced DVC'rs make during your trip?

We'll be driving so we have the luxury of bringing non-perishibles with us. What should we bring???? I'm thinking dish detergent (regular and dishwasher), laundry detergent, paper towels, napkins....what other household basics? Do I need to bring saran wrap and aluminum foil for cooking/saving leftovers?

Thanks for your help!

I can't wait to stay at this resort!!!

We are a family of 5 and we always do a grocery stop on our way into our dvc resort. We don't cook lunches/dinners in our room but we will have things like those little boxes of cereal bagels/cream cheese, cheese cubes/cheese sticks, chips/pretzels/goldfish, tons of water, some soda. We might eat a bagel or something quick before an early morning park trip but we eat out most meals. Our kids do like to have a snack handy at the villa for when we are there during the day/night coming from a park. I am sure you could make some easy meals....like spaghetti, tacos...easy type stuff. Yes bring foil if you feel you need it. Paper Towels are i the room....and I tend to buy napkins and little plates/bowls too. I guess it depends on how much you think you might eat in. If you are more apt. to go early to the parks...maybe come back for quickie lunches....sandwiches, chicken nuggets, hotdogs, frozen pizzas and then have dinner in the parks. Hope this helps.

You also get dish detergent (Palmolive) and dishwasher detergent provided. They will give you more if needed on trash/towel day. We never run out and eat in every day of our two week trips.
We go to the Walmart Supercentre and stock up on groceries - we really enjoy a mid-day break for lunch at the room so we can visit the pool or enjoy some reading time on the patio (we love OKW). We also have dinner at the villa before heading out to whatever EMH there are, or a movie at DTD. We always buy quick, easy meals that save us tons of money eating out. Good example of saving money - our trip in June the four of us ate out three times (one character lunch, and two other TS meals) -cost $300:scared1: (ate out because we spent first five nights in a studio to enjoy a savannah view!). Second week, had a one bedroom, spent $110 on groceries for five nights, including beer and wine, pop and water. We got pasta, frozen pizza, chicken breasts, hamburgers, deli meat, sub fixings, quesidilla fixings, lots of snacks and desserts, fruit. :thumbsup2
Enjoy your two bedroom!

We usually have spaghetti and meatballs with a bagged salad one night, another night meatball subs. Then we have coldcuts for sandwiches for a few lunches. We definitely eat every breakfast in so we have eggs, bacon, sausage, pancake mix, cereal and bagels to last us the week. The rest of the lunches and dinners are eaten out.

When we stayed in August, I remember having leftovers from almost every lunch or dinner that we ate in restaurants-it's so hot you rarely finish a meal. So we had one night of "finish the leftovers". :)

For the non-food items:

-plastic baggies(for small snacks and leftovers)
-small cups (my kids often share a large drink at the parks)
-koolaid or gatoraid individual packets for water bottles
-clothing detergent (they give you some but only for one load)
-pizza cutter (none in the villas)
-dried fruit and other snacks (food-but could be taken from home)
-batteries
-chargers
-glow sticks/bracelets etc. for night visits to the parks

I found the villas well equipt. and we had lots of leftovers that we didn't eat. At least anything that wasn't needing refrigeration, we took home with us. Things like PB, jam, bread, pasta, canned food etc.

We did the walmart run instead of delivery and won't do it again. It took us the better part of 3hrs and didn't get back to the room until really late. It was not a good way to spend an evening. I don't think I saved any money either, I bought a lot of stuff on impulse that I didn't use.:(

You'll need salt, pepper, sugar, any other seasonings. They provide dish detergent and dishwashing detergent. You'll need dryer sheets or fabric softener if you use it. You'll get a single use box of Tide. Bring your own saran wrap, foil, containers for saving food.

We try to bring anything that will keep from home to save shopping time and to in order to buy items when they are on sale. I also make a shopping list before I leave (my brain is more practical at home then at WDW.) Easy, fresh things that require little effort works for us. Egg sandwiches and PB and J for breakfast. Tuna salad with crakers or grilled cheese, fresh fruit and veggies, sometimes I'll pick up a roasted chicken too. We tend towards nosh meals...lots of bits and peices on the tables, pick at what you like. Pasta and sauce from home worked too..... hope you have fun.

Dont waste space on dish detergents or paper towels- they provide plenty. More was provided on T/T day and there was even extra underneath the sink that I never opened. We did bring those disposable glad containers for leftovers and just threw them away at the end. Ziploc bags are also a must.
