First Trip in a Few Years

Good Evening All,
We're heading back to WDW for the first time in a few years so I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any major changes to shows, attractions, etc. I'm aware of the FP+ system and Magicbands, so don't worry about me there. My main concern is some of the shows and attractions that had been the same for several years, like the Electric Parade, Fantasmic and Lights Camera Action to name a just few. We've seen pretty much all of the shows over the years, so usually we're just planning on which ones we can do without seeing for the 3rd or 4th time. Hopefully you all can fill me in on any of these types of shows/attractions that have been updated or even overhauled in the past couple years that we should make a point to see this time. I haven't done a great job of keeping updated so I feel a little lost.

Also, is Fantasmic an every night event? It seems like it was only running on certain nights the last visit, but the current schedule for Dec. shows it every night. Just wanted to confirm.

Fantasmic runs pretty regularly these days because of increased attendance. We generally skip it now because we've seen it so much at WDW and we prefer the DL version that we saw a couple of summers ago. Sadly, MK is still stuck with the Electrical Main Street Parade. At this rate, I think the parade floats will deteriorate mid parade route before they ever consider something new. There's a newer pre-show to Wishes, where they project things on the castle. It's pretty but not a must do. The afternoon parade at MK is different, at least! There are some really neat floats on the Flight of Fantasy parade. The Dream Along with Mickey show that's up on the castle stage is the same. AK's parade is gone now. Illuminations is the same as it's been forever. Beauty and the Beast, the Indiana Jones stunt show, and the Lights Motor Action show at HS are all the same. I think they replaced Herbie with Lightning McQueen though. Same exact show, just replacement of the character car. I'd say if you've seen any of the shows/parades/fireworks in the past 10 years they're pretty much the same as they've always been. (That being said, I miss you, Spectromagic!)

...writing this out made me sad. WDW needs some parade/fireworks updates!

The new daytime parade at MK is fabulous!
So is the castle show before Wishes (Celebrate the Magic)

Other than that can't think of anything new other than all of the things they have taken away like the DAK parade.

On another note, depending on when you're going (i see the 182 days in your ticker, so December??), Dream Along With Mickey is closing for awhile this summer...I"m not sure if it's due to construction around the castle (adding the turrets)or if they are reworking the show, so if you're there this winter, it could be different.

Joining in with those who say Festival of Fantasy (the daytime parade) is beautiful. The floats are spectacular.

They have added Frozen fireworks to DHS for the summer, not sure if they'll do something special this winter or not.

Aside from the new Frozen show at HS and the new MK afternoon parade, I don't think must has changed as far as the shows go. I still miss the Hunchback show at HS and Tarzan Rocks at AK, but that's just me Have a magical trip!
