Quick report from our fantastic quick trip home to OKW (Oct 1 - 4)!

We arrived on Sunday around noon. Our room wasn't ready, so we headed to the Magic Kingdom. As we were walking into the MK, they announced the Family Fun Day Parade would be starting momentarily. No sooner did I finish telling my DH that you had to be there earlier in the day to get picked, we were asked to be in the parade! :cool1: Woo Hoo! A little Disney Magic as soon as we arrived! Needless to say we had a BLAST waving our flags and walking down Main Street!

We attended MNSSHP on Monday night and had a great time. DH, DD and I were Parrot Heads from OKW (of course!). The boys were pirates (what else!)

I'll post some pics of the view from our room in Building 46. At first I was a little disappointed with being on the first floor (and a little annoyed by the fruit loops on the edge of our balcony), but when we woke up in the next morning, we had "visitors" for breakfast and I realized why there were fruit loops on the edge of the patio! The boys LOVED feeding the ducks too!! (so much for the little boxes of cereal I brought with us for breakfast, at least the ducks ate well!)

The walk from Building 46 to the Hospitality area was not bad at all, and we loved being in this area. Nice and quiet. The kids (who hadn't been to OKW before we purchased DVC and were disappointed not to be staying at the Polynesian) LOVED it. They had a great time at the "cool pool" and my youngest liked that it was "quiet and really pretty" there. It was actually like being on "vacation" while at Disney for a change and a nice break from the madness of the parks.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Old Key West and couldn't be happier with our DVC purchase! (and yes, we "need" more points already!)

While OKW is our home resort, we have been trying out other resorts. SSR was a necessity due to availability. We just got back from VWL, and in January we are staying at BCV. I sure do miss OKW. Out of the 3 then, OKW is still my favorite. Thanks for the much needed pictures.

:tink:

Sigh........................ How beautiful! We'll be there soon.

:thanks:

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE building 46, and the only better place to be is that one in your view...building 55!

OKW is our favorite resort. My children now (DD 20 DS 16) would use the closet in second bedroom as their playroom when they were little. DVC is the best thing we could have ever brought for ourselves. (Members since August 1992)
Our second favorite resort is WL, they have one of the best quiet hot tubs and is very convenient.
We are going the Oct 26-30 but could not get a DVC room, so we are staying at CBR (first time there). This was not suppose to be a vacation but made it into one. Our priority is to visit Embry Riddle University in Daytona Beach. It is also the first time without DD (she's in Ireland for a study abroad program)
I think we are starting to get the empty nest syndrome and need to buy more points for just the two of us.

Isn't OKW great??? Sounds like you had a real special time.

OKW is great, just got back thursday was my 3rd or 4th time staying there. Wanted something close to the front but ended up in building 39, nice quiet corner, cant complain.

Oh my gosh-thanks for posting pictures of your view-that is beautiful. We've always asked for a golf course view, but I think we'll switch.
LOL, though. When you first mentioned "Fruit loops", I didn't know you were literally talking about the cereal.
