We are going to OKW for our first DVC trip in July. Has anyone got any ideas what we need to take with us to the studio by way of cutlery, dishes, and food supplies. Any tips or ideas would be great.

Thank you.

I have never stayed in a Studio, but I believe that you get a supply of paper plates or bowls and plastic utensils. I suppose it depends on what you plan on eating in the room. The studios do not have a stove, only a microwave and a mini-fridge

You will find a few paper plates and bowls along with some plastic knives and forks. The are a couple of real coffe cups as well as a few glasses. I really don't remember if there were any bowls, etc for cooking. There is a full size iron and a small table top ironing board. There is a microwave, small refrigerator and coffee maker and hair dryer in the room

We stayed in a studio at OKW this past Dec. They have 4ea of plastic plates, bowls and utensils. The cups and glasses are normal. The fridge is big enough to hold a gallon of milk and some sodas, not to much else. There is a coffee pot and a couple of packets of coffee is all. We got cereal and some rolls for breakfast, but usually ate out the other meals. There is also a small microwave, iron and board. One thing, we always ran short of towels, or they were still wet from the night before, but when we'd go to the pool we'd be sure and get a couple extra.:pinkbounc :bounce:

Forgot to tell you. The store at OKW stocks mostly easy to fix foods. We tried the microwaveable breakfasts and they aren't to bad. They have sandwich stuff, chips, crackers, and stuff like that.

We eat a lot of quick meals in our room and so I bring some microwave safe bowls since the paper ones aren't that good and there are only a few. Also if you have any canned food bring a can opener. The only other thing I bring is a real paring knife. The plastic ware is durable enough that I wash it each time and it lasts the whole week. We bring 1-2 suitcases of food and always stay in a studio. We always have lots to eat. It's lots of fun. I relate it to camping. A little like roughing it but with a whole lot more conveniences.

Stephen,

remember that the US is fairly strict about people bringing in food from abroad, also they might be extra careful because of the F&M.

Our first stay at OWK and in a ssstudio wass last month and we are going agin the end of June. We had lots of snacks. The wet bar/counter area around the small sink made a nice spot to store food items versus nowhere in a regular room.

When we go back the end of June, we will have juice boxes, muffins and microwaveable bacon and sausage for mornings we don't eat breakfast out.

The fridge is about the size of a dorm room fridge with space in the door to hold small bottles, juice boxes, etc. The freezer compartment runs along the top of the fridge and it is the full width of the fridge from left to right--hope that makes sense. It it not the little box thing just on the right or left of the fridge. It holds more than I thought it would. There are two tiny tiny ice trays, but more importantly to me, it held several small bottles of water laying side by side so that they would freeze.

Hope this helps.

The most imporant thing to take is the names of the other DISers who will be at OKW during your stay. Most of us will be arriving towards the end of your vacation, so you can fill us all in on the goings on at OKW. I look forward to meeting you on July 23rd at the OKW Main Pool at Sunset. :)
