My parents are coming with us on our June trip and haven't been there for about 20 years! We have our favorites that we'd like to take them to - Le Cellier, CRT (breakfast),and Cali Grille. Do you think they can handle the noise at Chef Mickey's for breakfast? Is there anywhere that you think that 2 Seniors would really enjoy? It can be sit down, counter service or character! I think they would enjoy afternoon tea,too since we are staying at the GF! Any suggestions would be so helpful! Thanks so much!

My parents are planning to join us for 2 days of our trip in June too! :goodvibes

I wanted them to see our kids interact w/ the characters (& for them to have a chance to interact as well), so I've chosen Crystal Palace lunch for our MK day. The food is so yummy here, and the characters are fun too.

For our Epcot day, I've scheduled Garden Grill - the menu looks delicious. And the restaurant revolves which I think they'll find neat. Also, the characters are the "main" characters - Mickey Mouse, etc.

I tried to schedule 2 different-type character meals - 1 is a buffet, 1 is sit-down, and neither has the same characters.

And, I'm thinking of take my mom & my daughter to tea at the GF as well! (I just can't decide if that will take too much time out of our day, since they'll only be w/ us for 2 days.)

This is the 1st time my parents have been back to Disney World since I was about 12 (I'm 32 now), & it's only the 2nd time they've been total. And, it's their very first time to see Epcot. I'm so excited!! :yay:

We took my parents for their first ever trip to WDW in October. We had such a good time and I know your family will too! Here were their favorites:

Chef Mickey's. We did dinner, they really enjoyed the selections and seeing the characters interract with our kids. They also enjoyed seeing the monorail move through the building and twirling their napkins.

1900 Park Fare. We did breakfast, it was wonderful. The charm of the Grand Floridian really appealed to them and the food was wonderful. Probably the best breakfast buffet I have done at WDW or Disneyland. It was perfect to eat there and then ride the monorail to TTC and then on to Epcot which my dad really enjoyed.

CRT. We had dinner there before MNSSHP and it was wonderful. I think you mentioned this one already, it is just magical to eat in the castle.

Sci Fi: I think this might have been their favorite believe it or not. They just loved eating in the car, the burgers and the movie clips. They both died laughing remembering those funny movies they used to go and see! We did lunch, I like that menu better.

Kona Cafe. Really nice for lunch and they enjoyed it. But when DH and I had dinner at O'Hana in December just us, we both mentioned that we wished we would have brought my parents there too! We saw an extended family at the next table which just added to our missing the grandparents and knowing they would have loved the food and atmosphere.

Libert Tree Tavern. Again, they loved the characters, being right in MK and the food was nice, normal, all American food that appealed to their palettes.

Rainforest Cafe. They enjoyed this a lot, we had been to the one in Disneyland before so it wasn't a big surprise that they would enjoy this one.

They really enjoyed Columbia Harbor House for counter service as well as the hot dogs at Casey's. We also ate at the food court at ASSP's a few times before moving over to Saratoga. That was sort of a crowded nightmare but they had fun so I guess it was okay. After that when we did cs it was usually at Artist's Palette in Saratoga Springs. This was also duing Food and Wine Festival so that was nice for cs options.

In January, we took DH's parents to Califorina Grille and Le Cellier and they really enjoyed both of those. I know my parents would have loved Le Cellier (I wish we would have gone there instead of Marakkesh which they didn't like too much) but I don't think my parents would have liked Ca. Grille the way DH's family did. And I thought it was as noisy in there as Chef Mickey's! Dh's parents enjoyed Tusker House in AK, they have a pretty varied menu and we lucked out and saw some African muscians while we ate. I found my parents seemed to enjoy the more family friendly places because they enjoyed seeing the grandkids have so much fun. Also, my dad hates to wait so I made sure to make ADR's early or very late when it was less busy. Buffets were also good since he has diabetes and needs to eat pretty regularly and can't get too starved. I also recommend eating at the resorts which are almost attractions in themselves. They also usually have plenty of places to sit and wait for your table which was nice. I wish we could have explored the Epcot resorts. Dh's family enjoyed the AKL and Boma quite a bit and I think my parents would have too. You need a lot of time to get all that dining in!

Good luck and enjoy your planning!

When we took my in-laws, I was really surprised by the restaurants they liked/didn't like. They weren't crazy about Spoodles or Canada, but loved Morocco, Germany, Ohana, and England. I think they liked the *fun* restaurants more. They don't go to those kinds of restaurants at home, but in disney I think they wanted to do more disney things.

Next month when we go again we're bringing them to LTT, breakfastasaurus, Whispering Canyon, Sci-Fi, and returning to Germany and Ohana's.

The other things I'm trying to fit in is the Tea at the GF for the ladies:)

We took MY grandparents, my kids GREAT GRANDPARENTS, last year for Christmas. They're both in their 70's, and absoulutly loved Chef Mickey's!
We did breakfast, and it was great.

They also really loved dinner and breakfast at 1900 Park Fare.
The Princess Storybook breakfast, LeCellier for dinner, Garden Grill for dinner (but, that was before the menu change), Cape May for dinner, and LTT for dinner.

They thought RainForest Cafe was fun, but it wasn't their favorite. They really enjoyed eating at Cindy's just because it was in the castle, but this wasn't one of their favorite meals either.

The only places they didn't really care for were Boma for breakfast or dinner, and Sci-Fi, I think it was too dark in there for them. I really think they would have preferred 50's Prime Time.

We took my in-laws for the first time ever back in November. I had originally scheduled an ADR for Chef Mickey's but thought it might be a bit too much for them (they're in their 70s). So I opted instead for Garden Grill in Epcot as our character meal and they LOVED it! They also enjoyed Whispering Canyon a great deal.

My daddy, who is 72, loves Whispering Canyon (ate their 3 times for my wedding in October). The food is good and the servers are a lot of fun. He also enjoys the Plaza Restaurant just off Main Street. He really likes that place. It's small and quaint and has delicious cold and hot sandwiches, and the best ice cream selections, including an old fashioned banana split. But, the Plaza does not have bathrooms inside, they are not far, but if they have trouble walking that could be an issue.
Have a blast!

Thank you all so much for the great suggestions! After thinking about it and with so many saying that your parents liked Chef Mickey's, I can definitely see my parents twirling their napkins over their heads with my kids! :sunny: I hadn't even thought about Crystal Palace or The Plaza! We really liked WCC last month and I think they might, too. You all had great ideas - Thanks! Now to decide......

We are taking Grandparents this time, they haven't been in 20 years. My Aunt took her grandchildren 2yrs ago and she loved watching the kids enjoy Ohona's and Whispering Canyon Cafe. The kids have coconut races at Ohona's and the food is good, and Horse races at WC and the food is good. Le Cellier is a nice dining experience as well. Chef Mickey's and CRT are great for the kids too.
