First trip....Feb 2012....Polynesian....Yay!

Yup - agreed. :thumbsup2 Hense, the reason we are going with out him this time... He even bought our plane tickets. :rotfl2:

D~

D ... was that his way of saying "Get outta here and lemme have some peace for a week?" :lmao::rotfl2:

I'd be happy to leave DH behind ... but he's afraid he'll actually miss something fun. So he insists on going. Plus, he loves the food. And now that he has buddies down there, he does tolerate it a bit more. I'm anxious for the days we get to hang out with our local friends ... he's in a good mood on those days and not whining.

I am totally and completely aware of that, doesn't bother me at all - I got my airfare out of the deal. :cool1:

A non-whining DH??? :confused3 WOW!!!

D~ <---Speechless.

I could get behind a deal like that, D. :goodvibes

He's only non-whining when he has his buddies around.

They remind me of MST3K ... anyone ever watch that series? :confused3

They all sit around and watch movies and heckle them. He didn't whine, because he had two guys who were JUST LIKE HIM to hang out with. I mean, he still made whining comments, but it was to them, and not to me, and I can deal with that. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to let you know that I'm in!! I may have to wait til my weekend to really read through everything though. I do know that you will love the Poly though. The rooms are very comfortable I think and with plenty of room and storage space.

I'll write more later. Just wanted to subscribe for sure though!

Us chicks with Disney resistant husbands need to stick together!:thumbsup2

 Yay! Happy you're here. Love your TR...most inspiring one I have read. At least for me since our situations are so much alike. Love the attitude you took with your non-magical hubby. Gives me hope that I can handle mine too :thumbsup2

AMEN! Sorry, I gotta jump in on this, too. My DH swears every year we're never going back. He'll eventually learn that I will get my way. :lmao:

Mine already knows I get my way. Otherwise he wouldn't be going this first time. With Bradey only 5, it is going to be such a magical trip for him, so Bill has to be along to see it too :)

Yup - agreed. :thumbsup2 Hense, the reason we are going with out him this time... He even bought our plane tickets. :rotfl2:

D~

I am already considering and conspiring with friends for the next trip without hubbs. He will be more than happy to send me and Bradey off on our own! Maybe he can buy our flights for a birthday present. hmmmm... D~ You're a bad influence :rolleyes1

See, my hubby is an identical twin. He and his brother are very close, so his brother's daughter and my son are prettymuch brother/sister. She is only 3 this year. This trip started out with all of us going together, then my sister-in-law changed her mind. But I was already excited about it and had already told Bradey, so we stuck with our plans without them. Now, they are taking my niece next year and I plan on crashing the party. It would be so much fun to have them experience Disney together! I have no illusions that DH will want to go again, but Bradey and I can have just as much fun without him. And without him, we can stay at a cheaper resort :) I'm hoping for POFQ, but would love to check out Art of Animation too.

So very not happy this morning. I read my weekly AllEars newsletter and it said the Electric Parade will not be showing while I am there either! Add that to Thunder Mtn, Dumbo, Fantasmic, and Kali River Rapids.:sad2::mad::sad2:

The Elecric Parade is one thing I remember from my young trips and I was so excited to share that with my family. Just don't know why they can't stagger the refurbs a little so no one has to miss out on all the classics. Afterall, I am still paying full price for the parks!

Ok, still upset, but trying to calm down. I know we will still have a great time, but it just irks me.

So sorry to hear of all the stuff you'll be missing out on. It really stinks. :guilty: I wish I could wave a wand :wizard: and make it better.

Thanks Liddy  I know it will be fine. I am the only one who has been before. They won't know whats missing. And I am already planning on going back so we can see the new Fantasyland and stay at Art of Animation. So it will be fine. I know the trip will be a magical time for all of us anyway. Besides the Electric Parade....really upset about that one :( But we are at the Poly and they still have the Electric Water Parade....hopefully. Still can't wait. Morning bad mood over.......52 days to go! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

This sucks... I am so very sorry...

I totally agree, you are still paying full price - yet so many star attractions are down for refurb, not to mention Toontown... That should be an automatic deep discount!

Hopefully some of this stuff will come back earlier than scheduled.

D~

Hi ! Joining in.

LOVE the Vera Bradley bag .. those are my favorite kind. :thumbsup2

I can't believe all those things will be down when you are there ! You're right .. they SHOULD stagger them better. :sad2:

You're going to have a great time anyway and now you have an excuse to go back sooner.

Not sure when we are going .. hopefully this spring sometime .. just waiting for our dates from Make A Wish .. but reading others reports are helping get us through the waiting period !

Its ok. I had a minor breakdown this morning when I found out about the parade, but I know it will be amazing no matter what. As long as they don't take away the Tonga Toast :lovestruc Can't wait to try that baby!

Sorry, I'm gonna eat it all....better luck next time :)

Actually, I saw someone else's TR and they had the Somoan at Kona. Kind of like a eggs benedict with pulled pork. Yum! I might have to get that one morning. And I kinda want one of their fruit bowls. Served in a half pineapple with banana bread on the side. Thats more my speed for breakfast. But I will get the Tonga Toast at least twice...once at Capt Cooks and once at Kona. Capt Cooks is half the price, but no sauce and no side of meat.

I beg you ... please save me just one serving! :worship:

Perhaps I can force DH to order the Somoan ... therefore I can have both! :lmao::rotfl2:

That fruit bowl sounds great! Right up DD's alley, too! I'm sure that's what she'd get. :goodvibes

ROFL... Liddy is planning her family's menus based on what she'd like to order... I like that idea. :thumbsup2

D~

I ordered the Somaon at Kona and it was SOOOOOO good. David couldn't keep his fork out of my plate:laughing:

Sorry about the Elec parade thing:sad2: But like you said, you'll just have to hit that when you go on your trip to see the new Fantasy Land!

Sounds like a good plan!

And...is there a problem with that? My hubby's a good boy, he does what I tell him. If I tell him to order the Somoan, he will order the Somoan and like it :)

Yep, I think it was your TR that made me start drooling :) Kona was one of the deciding factors between POFQ and Poly. Breakfast is my favorite eat out meal of the day, and it doesn't appear that the parks have much for breakfast. So I wanted a hotel we could have a great breakfast at each day before hitting the pavement. I made 2 ADRs at Kona for Breakfast and 2 for dinner. Planning Capt Cooks every other day....expect our DTD day when we will hop a bus to POFQ and try some beignets. But I've heard that when its a low season and if you are there early enough you can get a walk up at Kona pretty easily. We plan to test that theory :)

I just came across your PTR this morning and have to go back to page one to read more but I wanted to comment about what you just mentioned above. DH and I , DH more has to have his sit down breakfast when on vacation, and I also take into considration what restaurants are at the resort or nearby when choosing where we will stay. DH can not deal with a food court first thing in the am , or he is a Mr Grumpy all day :rotfl:
I have never been to Kona's but it does get great reviews for Breakfast.

:yay: WELCOME! :yay:
I usually like a sit down too, but even at Capt Cooks they have Tonga Toast...so if we are rushed some morning (which I'm sure will happen) we can still have a great meal. I've heard Capt Cooks gets busy in the morning, but with a 5 yr old and my parents in the same room, we probably wont sleep great and will be able to get up early to beat the crowds. Plus, it is supposed to be one of the least busy times of the year....hopefully the crowds will be down to a minimum.

Very much looking forward to Kona. I have 2 dinner ADRs there too, but no lunches. I just figured we would be out and about during lunchtime. But if not, we can hop over from MK or Epcot pretty easy. I know O'Hana is supposed to be really awesome, and I'm sure it is, but it just doesn't sound like it is for us. Sounds too crowded and loud and I think a the end of the day we will just want a quiet meal and to relax. Maybe next trip...
