First trip...2.5 days in MK

We are going on our first EVER trip to WDW this December. It will be me, my husband, our almost 5 year old son, and our 2.5 year old daughter. We have an 8 day trip and plan on having roughly 2.5 days in MK. How would you split up the attractions for each day?

MK Day 1 (arrival day): Should safely be in the parks by 1pm, have a 5:05 BOG dinner, will probably head back to the Poly relatively early after a long travel day.
MK Day 2 (trip day 3): PPO BOG @ 820 am, will go back to Poly for nap around midday, 1900 Park Fare dinner @ 535, back to MK for evening and fireworks
MK Day 3 (trip day 7): MVMCP is this day and we will NOT be attending, plan to leave park around 1-2pm and will not return, Ohana dinner @ 520pm.

I really have NO idea where to even start. Any and all advice is appreciated!

Day one I would start in Adventureland and work my way around counterclockwise to BOG.
Day two I would start in Fantasyland since you are already there and then to Tomorrowland.
Day three I would hit anything we missed or loved.

You will have a magical time no matter what you plan!

Depending on how adventurous your son is..you may want to build up coaster wise.
Barnstormer then 7DMT then Big Thunder (then splash) then Space Mountain

And, like every other boy, I'm sure he will want to drive the speedway every day (despite being most parents least favorite queue)

Personally, I wouldn't want Adventureland to be the first land to experience at MK. It's not bad, but it's congested with not that many A list attractions. I would look personally choose to head right after main street and hit Tomorrowland and Fantasyland on Day 1. Next in line for another day would then be Frontierland and so on.

I would lean that way, too
1p-5p will mostly be peak waits in Fantasyland
But if they use FP+ and naturally shorter waits like Philharmagic, carousel and anything else that might happen to be <20 min waits it won't be too bad having fun before dinner.

Pooh (FP+) then Teacups (if wait is short) then PP (FP+) then Small world (if short wait) then Dumbo (has the playground indoor wait) and possibly Barnstormer) then 7DMT (FP+) then try to get 4th FP+ for Pirates or Buzz after dinner.

Yep the first day I would plan to do the top 3FP attractions in Fantasyland. It's screams kid friendly. We have a 5 and 4 year old and they are much more impressed by Fantasyland than Adventureland. If you are safely in the parks by 1pm, I would hit the Festival of Fantasy parade right in Mainstreet first thing! If he likes coasters at all I would definitely FP SDMT, my DS was riding it before he was 3 so if you DD is 38 inches she might like it as well. I would also FP Peter Pan and either Pooh or Little mermaid. You could hit Philarmagic with little wait and Dumbo has an excellent play area.

With the ages of your children, I would recommend focusing on your FP selections and then do some character meet and greets on your arrival day. The waits for a lot of the attractions will be maximized when you're arriving. You'll also want to take in the afternoon parade on Day One.

On your second day, I would suggest you take advantage of being there at rope drop for your PPO BOG meal and hit a lot of the Fantasyland attractions that you don't have FastPasses for before the crowds build. You'll get much more bang for your buck as far as wait times are concerned that way.

I know I'm possibly the only person over the age of 3 who likes this ride, but maybe It's a Small World? It's a classic, it's good for young kids, and it (in my experience) always has little to no wait time.

Thanks all! I really wanted to go to Fantasyland first since that just seems like the perfect area for my little ones, but wasn't sure about starting that late in the afternoon. But I guess if we can get 3 FP+ for then, it would be doable. We definitely want to catch festival of fantasy at 2pm on arrival day since I think that may be the only day we are in MK at that time. Where would be the best spot to watch it?

Day 1 - I agree with the other PP's who recommend Fantasyland. Walk down Main Street, through the castle (if it isn't closed off) and do 3 FP+ in Fantasyland (I would recommend 7DMT, Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan's flight for your FP+). You can then try to get extra FP+ after that, have your dinner and leave when you are ready.

Day 2 - I would finish up anything you missed in Fantasyland (including Storybook Circus) after breakfast and then head over to Tomorrowland. In the evening, if you have time before the fireworks, I would do some attractions in Adventureland.

Day 3 - repeat things you liked and/or do anything you missed on days 1 and 2.

Definitely Fantasyland first. I would get FP's for Peter pan, Pooh and either Dumbo or 7Dmt (if your son is tall enough). Gaston is a great character meet, as well as Peter Pan.
