Hi there.
I'm new to DIS (joined today).... We're heading to WDW on December 2-8th. I'm taking my son (age 8) and 3 nephews (11,9,7). This is the first time (and probably the only time) these kids will get to Disney.

My 7 year old nephew actually has a birthday December 14th. Someone told me that I should ask about a birthday button???? What is this, where do I get it, and would he really qualify since his birthday is a week after we leave?

Thanks much.

Im not sure about the birthday button, but we were asked at the poly if we'd been to dis before, and the kids got first timer buttons from the cm..

I think asking for a birthday button is fine... and I have done this before for my daughter and son. We have taken trips one week before each of their birthdays previously, and called these their birthday trips. The buttons are free. We got them at the resort. Once we were given one at check-in for my son... and for my daughter, a balloon, a card, and her button were waiting for us in our room. If you are staying on property, simply let them know you are celebrating a birthday when you check-in. If staying off property, I understand that you can ask a CM on Mainstreet and they will direct you to where you might get your pins. Have a GREAT trip. I am excited for your family... and especially the first (and possibly only) timers! I hope you get sprinkled with LOTS of pixie dust - and maybe a dream or two!

As soon as you enter MK, go to Town Hall (its right before you walk down Main Street on your left hand side). Go to one of the CM's and you can get Birthday buttons as well as 1st Time to WDW buttons for your whole gang! :thumbsup2

The Birthday / 1st Time / etc buttons are a way to let CM's know it's a special day or special visit for you and sometimes you get a little extra pixie dust... :wizard:

If you are staying on property, when you check in they also have the buttons - just ask. Guest Relations at the parks will also have them. What a great way to start celebrating his birthday! Enjoy!:cool1:

Many thanks to all who posted!

I think I'll definitely mention it when we check in that it's his birthday trip.

Take care.

Absoutely ask them for the B-day button. I think they even have first time buttons. Make sure you call Disney tell them to put on your ress that it's the first time comming and it's your nephew's b-day. Most of all make sure they wear them all the time. Hoepfully they will get little perks. Like a piece of candy or a cup cake or maybe a fast pass something. You nevr know. But it's so nice that most of the CM'S will stop and say Happy -B-day to you. They should have it for you when you ck in.
HAve a wonderful trip!
